Dealers pls provide technical spec for import in Europe
Looking to import a new 2008 Corvette coupe (LS-3) in Serbia South East Europe, for my personal use.
As the car is not being imported officially (local dealer imports only Daewoo “Chevrolets”), must obtain certificate from the Government Standardization Agency before addressing the customs for further procedure.
In need of detailed technical specification of the vehicle with special attention to emission and noise levels.
If you can send me a document containing such data, please pm me and I’ll provide an e-mail address.
Of course, if I can import it I will buy the car from one of you guys
Unfortunatly we (as US dealers) are not allowed to sell a car to you if you live out of the country or if you plan on exporting. Its a franchise agreement, No dealer on here would be willing to do it. Atleast I would think not. We would love to sell you a car, but its not possible. We can't even sell it to a broker for him to sell it to you. They do (GM) sell them all over the world and if you buy one already in your country, they will meet the Emissions your government requires in order for it to pass inspection. I wish we could help you, but the only thing we can give you is information and friendly advise. You can however buy a used on over here and export it. So maybe you should look into buying someones 08 that they have for sale in this section and see about shipping over to your country. That is the only other thing I can think of to help you. We as dealers cannot even sell to Canada, which is only 5 hours north of where I am. This upsets our northern neighbors quite a bit. But they can buy them in Canada very easily, I dont think the dealers up there can meet the price or are as easy to deal with like us Supporting Dealers here on the Forum.
Wish I could be more help, but our hands are tied.
Thanks,

Thank you very much for this valuable info.
I didn’t have a clue about this restriction, but it makes sense.
Can you sell a new car to the US company?
If you can, here is what we can do:
1) I incorporate an off-shore USA company under NY jurisdiction.
2) NY company establishes representative office in Serbia.
3) NY company buys car from you and temporarily exports it to its representative office which is the user, whilst the mother company remains its legitimate owner.
4) The Car is temporarily imported in Serbia (btw I save 42% on customs duties and taxes).
If this can be done all I need is:
1) emission and noise official specification
2) $$$ to deposit on my NY company bank account and buy the car from you
As you can see the whole structure is rather complicated but it would save me some $ 20,000. (or actually $ 60,000 to what I'll be paying in, for example, Germany)
Corvette is not being imported in my country and that is exactly the reason why I need technical specification to obtain certificate form the Standardization Agency. I know that LS-3 meets our requirements, but this needs to be established in a formal procedure. If I could get certificate from one of European dealers (for example German) that would solve my problem instantly (compliance with Euro 3 is required).
Please help me with this as I’m totally infected with the Corvette Virus. I rented the 07 coupe for a couple of days three weeks ago when on vacation in Miami Beach, and I can’t sleep ever since.
I wish I could help you, but that still constitutes exporting and is against the law and against franchise agreement . your only way around it is too buy someones used 2008 which wouold save you even more money if you bought a used car.
Think about it this way, it will already be broken in! its not like buying new would help you with a warranty anyways cause where would you get it worked on over in Serbia? I would love to help you out, but my hands are tied, there is nothing I can do except give you advise and maybe answer questions, but I cannot sell you a Corvette, or any GM vehicle that is new. I dont even think I can sell you a used vehicle. It has to be done as a private sale. I can help you look for a used one and let you know if its worth the money someone is asking, but I cannot get involved with the transaction in any way. I am sorry for not being able to help you more, but there are specific rules to selling GM cars, and this would be breaking those rules.
If a Corvette over in Germany meets the standards of Serbia, why not buy one from Germany? That sounds like a good way to go about it.
If us supporting dealers could sell anywhere in the world, we would sell 2x as many corvettes if not more. I wish it were possible, but at the moment its not.
Sorry once again, but if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. I am more then willing to answer any questions you have.
thank you,

Buying the euro spec Corvette in Germany is the easiest solution. However average price in Germany (not including 4LT trim, F55, NPP, MXO and other stuff I want) is in the neighborhood of $ 87,000. That’s 33% more expensive than in States. If I am to pay all customs duties and taxes it would total to $ 125,000. Or I can buy it thru my off-shore company…and save some $ 50,000
Anyway, I just found out that if I’m to import the Car in the name of representative office of the foreign company (temporary import) I do not need to prove compliance with emission laws.
So… expect to hear from an innocent Average Joe (US resident of course) inquiring about the price of a 08 Coupe in Atomic Orange with: VPK, 4LT, F55, NPP, MXO, U3U, C2L, QX3. What he does with his own vehicle after purchasing it…well that’s nobody’s business.
Thanks again man I really appreciate your support.
P.S. I wan't rest unitll I sit my a.. in Sienna Custom Leather! US spec or burst!
