Question about GM Supplier (Not GMS) retention periods
I am getting mixed signals out there on how long you must keep a car, specifically Corvette, if you buy it on the GM Supplier program (not GMS). Some people say no restrictions at all, others say MAYBE 6 months, and some say the same as GMS (which I have also been told is back up to 2 years on Corvette). Does anyone out there know the real answer and if so do you have any supporting documents that you can reference for me. Thanks very much!!
I currently have a corvette ordered with a GM Supplier discount. I believe that I read that the vehicle must be retained for 2 years after purchase. I don't think the retention period was specific to corvettes.
We obtained our supplier discount authorization on-line and read the program rules on the website. Unfortunately, I don't have the website's url handy so I can't refer you to a specific documentation. Hope that helps.
I purchased mine about a year ago using Supplier discount. At that time the retention period for Corvettes was 2 years while all other vehicles was 1 year. Probably the same is still true...
I bought 3 Vehicles with GM Supplier Discount including a 2004 Z06. I traded the Z06 inside of a year. I still have the other 2 vehicles. Never had any repercussions from GM. I just ordered a new C6 with the Supplier Discount and no issues. It went through.

Could you please list your full name and address so that I may forward it to GM.
Sorry. I'm not stupid. No reason to highlight the fact that they don't keep up with owner info. They didn't do anything, but that could just be because they are so slow with their database updates or it could be because they don't enforce the policy or it could be because I bought 7 GM products in 6 years (4 vettes and 3 SUV's) Either way, no reason to tell them that they didn't enforce the policy.
I tend to keep mine for 3 to 7 months and turn them. I have bought over 10 vettes and turned them all.
GM has an executive offer after you purchase a GM car or truck and they mail you a cert ranging from $1000 to $5000.00.. The most common one is $2500.00.
These are good from the higher up I have been told. I have ised 2 of them myself to purchase a corvette at GMS and it acts like cash..
So if a car is example 40,000.00 GMS and you have a voucher for $2500.00 you are paying $37500.00..
It works great and the dealer doesn not care. It is like the retirement certificate that GM keeps giving out every year to the retires.
