Default gopro question

I have three gopro 3+blacks never used..I may have a track day on Monday and today purchased gopro suction mounts..are they reliable enough to trust they will stay stuck to the outside fender/glass etc..do you need to back up with a tether of sorts ? Any particular tricks ? Moisten cups or not ?

Don't moisten and make sure the surface is clean and dry. Remember to start and stop the cameras. They won't go anywhere.

Stick it to a relatively flat surface. I clean the area and the suction cup with a little bit of glass cleaner.

although this wasn't really part of the question:
I would also recommend the GoPro-App (available for most smartphones)
You can have a livestream (to check the camera's direction)
and you (or your co-driver) can control the camera via the app
