Just want to express my thanks to all
Recently I had been playing with the idea of getting a ZR1 rather than deal with all the hype of the upcoming Z06 etc. A forum member had what sounded like the perfect car, but someone on ebay hit his reserve and I wound up putting a down payment and buying another one. Turns out his ebay deal never went thru.
I wound up with a 2010 Black Zr1 with all the bells and whistles with 6,000 miles. This car looks like it just came out of the showroom. I have two other black cars (swirl marks), but this ZR1 has absolutely perfect paint.
The back tires are original (manufactured 37/09) and they have no where near the wear you would expect for 6K on a super car like this. Fronts are excellent too. So this car seems to have been pampered.
Also came with all the papers, window sticker, the rotor protectors, books, etc.
Needless to say I'm happy.
A couple of years ago I bought a modded Z06 from a forum member (592 whp). I am sure that would have been faster side by side but the cars feel similar in speed. However due to different tires and suspensions they ride differently. This ZR1 has the Michelin Pilots ZP and the ride is quite stiff even in Tour (NYC streets). The Z06 had Pilot Spot Cups and Bilstein shocks. While the ride was firm it did not feel as stiff (hard to explain).
Anyway the point of this post is to thank all you guys for the invaluable information you post on this Forum. I have already spent a few hours refamiliarizing myself with some common issues amongst the C6s (dirty clutch fluid, etc). In the coming days I will focus on ZR1 specific posts. For a second I thought the ZR1 had been modded when I saw the Jake symbol on the air intake. A quick search here and found out it's factory.
As time goes on and I get more familiar with the ZR1, hopefully I will be able to post some useful info (although it's going to be hard to do with all the useful info already here).
Thank You

Congrats.
Fuel consumption, you'd assume, would be of little concern to those buying 638hp, carbon ceramic shod, 205 mph cars.
As easy as it is in my head to rule out justification for a ZR1 based on the premise I can modify a cheaper C6 to similar specs for less, it does nothing to stop me from lusting after one.
They're just incredible cars. Post a good picture.

That seems like a very underhanded way of insulting someone's choice in cars.
I doubt that was your intention (at least I hope not)
