Gear grind into 2nd under hard acceleration
As in the past again last night I experienced an incidental extreme grind going into second. I was coming out of a hard first gear acceleration and shifting into second (lift) and even before engagement I experienced an extreme grinding condition..so much I couldn't get second...at least right at the time..it did go in but if I recall the revs had to drop..
I've had this occur before and I don't think I can replicate at will although I seldom do hard 1-2 pulls with "as fast as ya can" shifts..
I know some experience the odd instance where 3rd gear can be an issue but I'm curious if my situation is known (bulletin) or maybe there is some underlying syncro wear/damage..2009 with 11000 miles...maybe a flush to Royal Purple or Redline ??

Le Mans Master
1) Fresh transmission fluid
2) MGW shifter
3) Motor or transmission mounts (Hinson Motorsports sells them the cheapest)
Bye bye shifting problems

Ya you're likely right..a fluid change would not hurt and I have an MGW I've been procrastinating installing..had one in the Z06 and really liked it..I was fishing for a potential known issue...should I change fluid type ?

with all of the above. On another shifting note, after owning my car for 4 years, I have finally discovered that under hard acceleration the smoothest most sure shifts, including second to third, are made by depressing the clutch pedal only half travel at most. When I concentrate on that technique the shifts are buttery smooth and very solid.

I hate to point out another possibility, but I would lean more towards the synchro in second gear is worn and only going to get worse. Had the exact same symptoms and needed them replaced. I had barely 4000 miles on my car and never tracked it or drove it hard. They upgraded the transmission in 2012 with carbon fiber synchros.
