[ZR1] Picked up a ZR1

Picked up a ZR1
Just picked it up a few days ago. 2010 ZR1.
Figuring out how to get the damn power down! It's so fast. Has pilot sports on. Was hoping it had pilot super sports or ps2. Something stickier. Loving it so far. Quite a thrill. I track a fair amount so I'm excited to get it on the track.
I live in Los Angeles. Came from an E92 M3 (KW Clubsports, Apr Aero, Stoptech BBK). I run at buttonwillow raceway
Where my best was a 1:57:7 and at willow springs where I ran a 1:30:9.
I always ran hankook Rs3 tires. Prob go to r888 for this or need to see what else they make in sizes for the vette. Curious to see what I manage in this car. Drove my friends Z06 thats turned into a track car and it turned me.
Also if anyone knows, I heard there is a certain mode for acceleration runs that pretty much allows you to floor and it manages the wheels spin. This this breaks loose so easily. Getting a feel for the pedal but would be interested in seeing how that works
Buddy's Z06 that got me going!

Get dedicated track wheels for the most fun!
Something like CCw's 18x11 front, 18x13 rear... Stuff some race scrubs on them and let her eat at the track...
I just did the same thing as you and bought my zr1 for track use...

Thanks guys!
Always wanted a cyber grey since the car was released.
I know ccw makes a great wheel. My buddy has spare track wheels so I'll just be using his. Nice having track friends. Just got to find the right tires

For the Factory wheels? 19/20, Sport cups are probably the best bet for that size, although Im thinking of going to straight 18's or 19's for street use so I can run r888 or similar

Sport cups are so expensive! They add up. Maybe I'll got to a less wide tire and try an nt01 otherwise r888.
Also pulled the exhaust valve fuse this morning. Sounds so much better!

Congrats!!! Ill recommend finspeed with 18" all around with R888. Is that the Z06 with a CRAZY lumpy cam i heard on corvette on facebook that was taken outta the trailer? If it is then that is the meanest Z06 sounds ever.

hahah either that Z06 which uses an open trailer, won Global Time Attack on Road Atlanta
or theres another similar driven by a woman named Stephanie that sound absolutely ridiculous and has a closed trailer

Your car actually has Pilot Sport 2's on it (PS2's)
If you wait a few months (when the new Z06 debuts) they will have Pilot Super Sports (PSS) in ZR1 sizes.
Until then Pilot Sport Cups (PSC) are the only other "stock" size option you have for 19/20's.
Again, if you wait a few months, Michelin will also offer Pilot Sport Cup 2's (PSC 2) in ZR1 sizes.
Other than that, I think Nitto Invo's (non-run-flat) are the only other choice for our 20" rears (345/25 ZR20)

Cup tires are very soft and sticky but after 200 miles and 2 track days there is zero tread on the outer third (good for track grip, not so good for driving in the rain)!!
I have two sets of rims---the stock 20-spoke comp grey's like you and the optional Cup wheels in matte black.
If I had to do it over I would get 18's or 19's all around--many more tires choices with those sizes.

Are there any 18s that fit over the carbon ceramic brakes?

I have a GT3 on order...it comes with the new Cup 2 tires that are supposed to grip even better and have a slightly better wear rating, so we will see...

Burning Brakes
Try running running a NT01 up front and a R888 in the rear. It works fairly well and gets rid of the understeer I had when run 888's up front.

Thank you! My buddy actually has forgelines I just didn't know they would fit my brakes! Awesome.
