[ZR1] My build with RHX Tuning
#41
Well the kooks high flow cats lasted about a week with the new power. Car is going back to RHX soon so Robbie can finish doing his magic! Going to cut the cats, add a nw 102 TB, the straightline expansion tank and magnuson hx, gates hd green belt, and the rest of the nitrous system with two 15lb bottles and a standalone fuel system. Think we'll put it on a 200 shot. Also going to need some mickey thompson drag radials. And here is a sweet video from Mexico racing league. H/C/I & pullied ZR1 vs 2.8KB Cobra:

Yeah we already have it. Hopefully it will be enough but without meth looks like it might not be. Either way it'll be much better than before. Did you ever go to a 300 shot? And are you on the stock transmission and differential?

i never went to a 300 i was to scared for my bottom end haha. im thinking on the 200 were close to 1100 wheel right now and not sure if i want to go much over that. retuning with the 4.5" intake and the ice box and going to see where that puts me. although im going to have to do a fuel system i think. right now im at 100% duty cycle on the #127 injectors i suspect 105 or 110 with the new intake which is scary.

o gotcha, i dont know if the meth really helped or not. the straight line tank made a bigger difference then the meth as far as cooling.

Long time with no updates. Well now the car has a pretty 5in intake, magnuson HX, straightline tank, enough nitrous to blow the welds on the intake, a really nicely ported freshly dropped by UPS blower, NW102 throttle body, 345/35/18 MT's, and way more power than I ever expected! Huge thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far, definitely wouldn't be anywhere close to where it is without you guys! I would list everyone but that would take forever. Anyways time for the fun stuff! Robbie at RHX gave me a one day late Christmas present by making it drivable and I love it! This video is with 3 month old 91 octane, no nitrous and it needs new plugs too. Let me know what you guys think! Just a quick tune it still needs some work, we were still very surprised. Also pull was to 180-185mph.
Also here is a pic of the engine bay with the intake, sadly don't have any pics of the finished engine bay but this is close.

What gains are there from porting the blower with the mods you guys are doing? I read somewhere that it lowers blower temps too. Have you seen that?

We completely changed the cooling system from before the ported blower snout TB and intake so I really don't know. That 40-185 pull the IAT hit 145 degrees, it was pretty chilly outside though. I don't know what kind of gains since we haven't had any accurate dyno numbers of before and after. The whole intake TB and porting together completely changed the car though. I would guess we gained over 100whp from the upgraded cooling porting TB and intake. Should get some dyno numbers on the car some time. Not a big priority for us though.

Well realistically it would if one were to compare it stock to stock. Or for instance on the same amount of boost for both before and after blower porting. You're increasing the efficiency of the blower, or more fair to say making it easier for the blower to gather and push air. With the increased efficiency of the blower it would create less heat because it's not having to work as hard to supply X amount of air. But realistically none of us do that because a good cooler system can be built to keep them temps down and horsepower junkies like myself just want every last ounce of boost we can get out of it.
