Default ****** Day!

Decided to drive Mariah to work today (2010 ZR1). Normal route to work speed limit gets to maybe 50 mph at the most. So, accelerate away from stop light and traffic hits about 50 for maybe 1/4 mile when it starts slowing. Well, I downshift and tap the brakes and all hell breaks lose!!!! Alarm goes off and DIC lights with SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING and car pulls HARD to the right! WTFO!!!!!

Well, call my service writer friend at the local Chebby dealer and he sez bring it on it - so limp the 10 miles. Calls me about 1/2 hour later and sez left lower control arm has broken bolt and needs to be replaced! WTFO!!!!! Anyone heard of anything like this before!!!??? Thank the good Lord for Zurich extended warranty as everything covered - around $300 bill including the rental car.

Real lucky something like this didn't happen when I was really playing like at Summit Point!

Wow that's a pretty big deal! My guess is someone torqued the bolt past its yield point and stretched the crap out of it. I would want to replace all the lower control arm bolts if I had one break on me. If someone over torqued one bolt they could have done it to all of them.

Agreed and that is what they did. Just can't for the life of me figure out when it would have happened? Perhaps when I had new tires put on about two months ago and 4-wheel alignment done?????

I certainly wouldn't go there again.
That would have been extra nasty if it had happened on the track!! Glad you caught it at low speed.
