Default Corvette in Rain?

Saving up to get a Corvette...but I was wondering if it is safe to drive in the rain? I had a mustang and even with wider tires, I never felt safe! (it could have been because it was a Ford!) It would slide and mostly felt like I would lose control at 5 mph. I love the Corvette but, if it doesn't have good traction then I have to say bye :'(

Any Help???

Thanks,
KA

Its safety in the rain is generally controlled by your right foot.

If you felt unsafe in the mustang, the vette will be materially no different.

It really depends on the tires. The greater the width the greater chance of hydroplaning. That said the tire design to shed water has a very large impact on the hydroplaning. The Michelin PS2 or Super Sport do extremely well in the wet.

I had no problem running my ZR1 on the track in the rain other than being a lot more careful with my right foot.

Go for it, just be careful & choose reasonable tires
My boss daylied his C6 Z06 for 2yrs in N Texas. heat, rain, sleet. No problem.

It's not going to be an issue of the car being unsafe, it's going to be an issue of you being unsafe.

I drive mine in the rain and I've had no issues at all.

I would say in a much harder rain (MUCH) these fronts tend to plow through the water versus "slice" through it. For that I keep the speeds down. In a normal rain, no issue at all. (And that would be true with any truely wide tire....the evacuation of water is just not the same as with a narrower tire)

What year Mustang? I had an 89 GT and a 93 GT. The vette is a totally different animal. Much better all around. Very stable in all conditions, especially once you ditch the Goodyears

General tire had Z06 sizes in a line called the "exclaim" Those supposedly wore like iron, hooked on hard acceleration and were great in the rain. They were not the greatest when you were at 6 or 7 tenths of the handling limit on a dry hot race track as other tires such as Pirelli, goodyear or nittos.

Mines good in the rain only problem it doesn't want to stop till I apply the breaks a little. I've been told by GM the water on the rotor turns to steam so the pads don't contact the rotor. Not sure I believe them all I know it's always a surprise the first time I go to stop.

Running pilot super sports now. No complaints. I heard of the exclaim. They stopped making them a while ago, no.

Safety in the rain has less to do with it being a "Corvette" and more to do with your "common sense and tires on the car".

My first day at Spring Mountain it rained all day. We ran the track in wet mode with no problem.

I rather drive my mustang. Keep good all season type tires on it and it can be ok, but I rather drive other cars.

it's a known fact that corvettes melt in the rain, so why would you even drive one in it....
