Default My next round of mods

The next round of mods actually started 2 weeks ago. I'm working with KP Racing to figure and build a real fix for IAT issues on ZR1's. As some may know my car makes 934rwhp boost only and 1105rwhp on a small shot on a Mustang Dyno. I am very happy with my cars power but I'm not happy with my IAT's. Mine reach 170-180 degrees on a long pull. My goal is to not reach temps past ambient and be able to get temps below ambient at events. I have done my research and with the help of KP Racing I think we have found the fix. I will post pics as they become available. My plan is to use a Magnuson HX with a Lingenfelter pump along with a custom water/ice box and accompanying lines ans fittings to completely revamp the blower cooling system on a ZR1.

Here's what I have so far-

Magnuson HX

And some water inket adaptors for the blower. TIKT makes some but I have found that trying to get them are nearly impossible so I called in a favor with one of my machine shop friends and a set built.

A custom water/ice box is being fabbed to go in the rear of my car that will increase the volume of water available for the HX cooling circuit. I will post pictures of the box in the next week or so.

I'm also adding a Dashlogic kit to my car to monitor parameters.

I will keep this thread updated as we get the data.

That is a great idea to put the auxiliary water box in the trunk. Good luck on solving this IAT issue, I look forward to your results. The IATs do seem to be holding these cars back from their full potential, so it is great that you are taking the bull by the horn.

I remember LPE made a statement a few years back that they found increasing the capacity of water supply for cooling resulted in more consistent times at the drag strip.

You could just cut the ends off and weld Fragola fitting on it....

I saw the pictures Joe posted on FB. Good luck and pls keep us informed. My 2010 ZR1 is not near the level of yours, but I'm shooting for 900 HP with this round of mods and am bracing in anticipation of IAT issues.

Are you running the stock intercooler bricks or modified and if so, how? In speaking with Lingenfelter they have a custom set of bricks they are making and was curious if you had investigated these. Thanks for any comments regarding the bricks in particular. This part of the ZR1 is what has been holding me back from doing boost related mods. Living in hot hot Houston I want to have my homework done first and there definately appears to be a weak link here.

some thin aluminum plating along the bottom side of the fins to protect them from the heat coming off of the blower lobes. (stock bricks with plate added)

Is the Magnuson heat exchanger you're using the one that comes with the Magnuson Heartbeat TVS2300 kits?

I'm running the Heartbeat blower on a dry sump Grand Sport. Since the LS7 would be running less boost than an LS3, I wonder why the h/e would be different. Ahead of the motor, there's little, if any difference between an M6 GS and a Z06.

The ls7 magnussion heat exchanger is smaller than our stock exchanger. So i dought that is the one that ace has. Im not sure which one RCC has in his picture.
