Default New Owner

Just picked up my first ZR1 after owning many Z06's. I just barely made it over to this forum from the C7 section. I had to decide to cancel my C7 order and buy the ZR1 or keep the order. You can probably feel the heat coming from the C7 section.
Anyway I made the right decision for me at this moment. Haven't regretted it.
The car is just stunning. I wish I could post a pic but I can barely operate my Mac. It is Cyber Grey Metallic with 60th anniversary stripes put on by previous owner. Not sure what color the stripes are ( not a corvette color) but they sure compliment the grey.
It is so much faster than the Z. I didn't think it was possible but I was shocked. I am looking forward to many years with it. It has everything I could want in a car.
Glad to be here...Mike

Congrats I also have a cyber grey from the same area

I also loved the guy in the thread who said the zr1 has a lazy low end torque...what a DA lol. Then another guy saying his c7 gets more attention than his zr1 ever got, well #1 the car just came out and #2 your c7 is bright yellow which is ugly as crap lol. The c7 crowd is a special kind of stupid no question about that

Congrats Mike and welcome to the Club
4 years later my ZR is still getting attention. There are some "special" people that have no clue on POWER!!!!!! That includes a few Z owners I know I will take a ZR over a C7 for the sheer power aspect
Enjoy the BEAST and if you want to email a pic Ill post for ya

Congrats OP. These are fantastic cars, which I'm sure you realized almost immediately. Welcome to the club. Now get some pics posted.

Welcome! You will find many of us went from Z06's to ZR1's (on my second ZR1) and never looked back! These are great cars out of the box and very easy to find additional HP with some mods.

We all know the C7 is a huge leap forward in many areas with a beautiful striking look. Most of us will eventually make the move to a C7/C7 Z06.
That said, for now, the ZR1 is still top dog in a parameter that most vette junkies hold dear. POWER. The stock ZR1 has 638 HP vs the stock C7 with 460 HP. That's 178 more HP. Need I say more. No way is the C7 the equal thrill ride vs the ZR1. Enjoy your King of the Hill ride.

welcome
there's only a hand full (in comparison) of ZR1 ever made, so if one day you decide to have a C7 I'm sure you'll be able to pick one for dirt cheap or with 15% off and 0%....where ZR1's...well can only have 46xx to choose from....

The ZR1 is addictive and one of a kind! I thought of trade in the zr1 for a C7 Z06. I still can't get pass the C7 look I just don't dig it. Besides with few bolts on this car is down right stupid fast! Enjoy the beast!

Now that I am here, maybe someone can answer a question I have about the exhaust. The two inner exhaust pipes are black while the outer ones are the normal color. Thanks Mike

Congrats! You picked an awesome color!

The wife and I just got back from a 1,000 mile road trip in the ZR1. The car is perfect for this purpose and performed like a champ. (In Mexico of course) we had several hour stretches of triple digit speeds and the thing is bulletproof.

Everywhere we stopped, the kids (ninos), the men(caballeros) and even the ladies(senoritas) wanted to talk about the ZR1. You make amigos everywhere you go.

I was also on the fence whether to get a C& or ZR1 and ended up trading in my Z06 for the ZR1 back in March. I'm mad every day it rains and I can't drive it! I went to lunch today with a buddy who's had multiple performance cars. I took one turn and ripped through 2 gears on the highway and about put him through the dash when I jumped on the binders. He was ear to ear grinning and couldn't believe how much faster it was than anything he had ever been in.

My pipes are the same - always gets black on the inside pipes - of course I have the flaps open all the time (mild to wild open or pull the fuse and always open) so they only use the inner pipes in this setting therefore, you will see moisture and black - I just wipe with a rag and they are like new.

Have fun!
