Default Blower porting worth it?

Is blower porting worth it with basic boltons?
Pulley, intake, exhaust , tune?
How much power should one see with just porting alone?

Not sure on the power gains for blower porting alone. But had C5Kid port mine, and couldn't be happier.

I personally gained 52 rwhp on a mustang dyno from ported snout, blower and 4.5" intake.

Narush's only mod was the ported blower this winter. So we should be getting some before and after numbers here soon. All the other cars I've done have done other mods at the same time, but have also dyno'd 30-35 rwhp higher w/ the ported blower & snout.

I think saving money for a bigger blower would be much better.

Tired of waiting for that day to come

I wanted a new one BUT the best option NOW is to get the factory one ported.

No one can nail a date down as to when a new replacement will be available

No one has stepped up to make a bigger blower. There may be one in the works, but I wouldn't hold my breathe, there is not enough demand for them.

Not sure it's just the tune or my car, but my torq increased more than my HP proportionally with porting.

Better torq gains than HP gains...

In the past we've seen the car pull harder up top with good porting. I plan on having my blower/snout ported, and then having a nice set of aftermarket heads ported to match.

eaton said they have a finished 3300 finished but there isnt enough demand for the kit so theyre not taking it to production, when we contacted them anyways

Well I want one. No need for production. Just make me one.

Has anyone ever done with mod and posted before and after dyno results that don't include a bunch of other mods installed at the same time? I've not seen that posted before, but I'd be interested to see that. Makes it basically impossible to tell what did what. Nobody ever installs one mod at a time though, myself included.

IMO, there are actually a handful of common ZR1 upgrades for which the actual amount you would normally see by installing only that mod is unclear.

Jorday, you're right... my guess is it is realistically maybe 10 HP & TQ... but it's also roughly a $1,000 which in ZR1 HP dollars... isn't bad after doing the simple Pulley & Intake bolt ons.

Anyone getting 50 HP... is going from stock no tune... to tune & ported blower. IMO.

But you'll be happy once Dustin does yours IMO.

Thanks,
Dave

Just to clear some things up. I had 798rwhp with ported heads, LPE intake and snout, 2.6 upper and lower pulley, headers and cam with minor things here and there. My blower was not ported and neither was my snout. We then ported my blower and my snout after making that 798 pull 2 weeks prior, we installed my 4.5" intake as well. Took it back to the same dyno and made 869 rwhp turning it down to 852.

A month prior to this I did dyno the car with and with out the 4.5" intake and that alone was an 18 rwhp difference. Leaving me to confirm that the 30+rwhp gain from the porting is a definite fact.

Well worth it. And I may know a guy that will do it for a tad less.

I read a while back that Jeremy Formato did a ported blower dyno compare which gained 32hp from just the porting alone.

So C5kid@RKT56 estimate of 30-35hp higher seems to be right in the ball park.

BallBearing, great numbers... wish I could have done better 'before and after'.

One question.. what TB size did you have at 798 & 852?

Thanks,
Dave
