Default Gut the cats- or buy an X pipe?

Looking to get a more aggressive exhaust note out of this thing.

Is gutting the cats or replacing the midPipe easier? What sounds better? Any pros cons to either?

Car is stock.

TIA.

Cats are part of the exhaust manifold not the x-pipe. They are easy to knock out.

The cat pipes are separate from x pipe but would require a tune if you gutted them

Random cats have the honeycomb design internaly and I had to go to Home Depot and by 2 drill bits = $50.00 and it took 3 hrs to gut them. So it's not so easy......

What year is your car? Im assuming yours is 2012 or newer. The older ones didn't have that style and it just blew out very easily.

Not hard at all...use a long metal device...smash the bricks up then blow them out...make sure you get all of it....thx whatcop?:

Hardest part about gutting the cats is removing them from the manifold.

Yep! The passenger side is tougher to get to break from the manifold.

Does gutting the cats bring on a CEL?

I have ARH LT headers sans cats and this car sounds like a true race car at WOT...worth more than the 710 LPE kit in my mind.

Not if you tune it out.

Thanks,

some people don't mind the smell after removing the cats and some really hate it. in an older muscle car the smell is expected and its just part of the deal. I find in newer vehicles people tend to not want stinky exhaust fumes. like a mentioned, seen it either way, just something to think about before you bust out a crowbar and gut em. im all about loud and the smell of race gas burning, some don't. sucks for them!
