Squeaky brake question.....
So I have a 2011 Carbon Edition Z06 which has the same brakes as the ZR1.
I have a loud squeak on braking at low speeds (ie:coming to a red light) only. it has gotten louder and is annoying and embarrassing.
Does anyone know of any solutions for these carbon ceramic brakes??
Thanks!
Ron

I had this from time to time on my 997 911 turbo ceramics, usually from dirt or brake dust. Happen a lot actually (I drove the car a lot more than my Zr1. A good wash of the calipers was the fix for me but when I didn't have time to clean a good 100mph-0 always did a good burn clean.
Also certain brake pads will squeak more than others. I remember doing a search for it on the 6speedforum with others suggesting different pads.

I have the same problem. I didn't do the burnish yet but I will do it as soon as I take the car out from hibernation. Last summer I could get the noise of by driving with 2 feet to heat them up and it would stop for a while but always come back. IT DRIVE ME NUTS
I will probably take it out next week or so and post the result

If you have not performed the burnishing procedure, try that first. If that doesn't work (unlikely) then used compressed air to get all the brake dust out from the holes in the rotor and wash everything with water.

I am not the original owner, so would you STILL recommend the burnishing?

My 2011 ZR1 is dead silent but my 2010 squeaks pretty often. Have no idea why one does and the other doesn't. I'll try washing the calipers and rotors on the 2010. Remember don't use any chemicals, just mild car wash soap and water. Chemicals can soak into the carbon ceramic rotors.

UPDATE:
So I removed the wheels and calipers and took a pretty fine piece of sandpaper and lightly sanded all of the brake pads for about 5 seconds or so each.
While I was at it I decided to bleed the brakes and put in the new bottles of Motul I had. I got in 1.75 bottles. I used my Motive brake bleeder. I had to run to the hardware store and re-create the coupler fitting from the cap that goes on the brake reservoir to the tube coming from the Motive pump. I was loosing pressure and finally realized the existing coupler had a small crack in it.
Once that was cured, the bleeding went smoothly.....
Long story short, no more squeaking!!! AND, with the new brake fluid I have improved brake bite and get into the ABS quicker now (tested at 40-5 mph stops only) which to me means the brakes are biting harder than before!!

So the squeak is back, but slightly, and only under a certain braking load (light). It's WAY better though overall....like 75%.

Mine have a slight squeak as well, its not to bad and i think its goes with having carbon brakes. From what ive read up on, its just something we have to deal with

My only question would be what would a dealer do for this, if anything?
