You have to pay for your transportation to get there & also pay to stay at their onsite condos. You can also stay in town at a hotel if you choose, but their condos are better than almost any place I've stayed at before. Only problem is they're pretty well booked up at least thru April, so call Donna at SM to see what's available & when.

I'm scheduled for the third week of April and it was pretty tight then as far as open spots in the class & the condo availability.

The first time I went was around the same time, 3rd week of April. Temps were in the 80s by then during the day.

IIRC, the accomodation was included in the all up price; but, please check with Melinda Hastings from SMMR.

We're hoping to return to SM late Oct 2014 when SM should have the 2015 C7Z06's to drive

Picked up a leftover 2014 60th on Memorial Day. (Traded in the 2014 ZL1). Should I be getting some form of package/notification that this event is still available? (The dealer did not mention anything about it)

Ha....good catch (14 vs 13). Awesome Memorial Day deals (and heck who wants a 125K car sitting in their inventory with all the C7s)....answer.... ME! White 60th with the black wheels was the eye-catcher for me. (Plus they offered me great deal on the 14' ZL1 as a trade)

I couldn't find a new 13' earlier this year so I picked up a low mileage 2011 and will be paying for the ZR1 course out of pocket. I'm going Oct 13-15 which is out of the blistering Summer heat, but still warm enough for good traction (80-90).

A lot of salespeople don't know about the free class, but you should receive a letter in the mail with the certificate. It'll have your VIN and the original dealer the car was delivered to from Bowling Green, which may not be the dealer you purchased the car at. Just give whatever info is printed on the certificate to the folks at Spring Mountain when you sign up.

Was the driving school only offered to original owners? Or does it go by the vin of the car.
Thanks.

^ it was included with a new ZR1 purchase, either two days or three days, depending on when the car was bought.

I did the Spring Mountain experience 2 weeks ago with the ZR1, amazing time. Per Donna, at this time the ZR1's are sticking around till Spring 2015. If you are in the ZR1 program you will drive a C7. The C7 is a great car and you will quickly realize that the seats in the C6 suck!

I'm still wondering if it goes by vin or original owner, because I know not all ZR1 buyers did the driving school. SRT has a program like this for 1 day, but it is included in the msrp of the car or jeep for that matter.

Call up Donna with the VIN & she'll know if you're eligible. You don't need to wait for the 'certificate' from Chevy either, VIN works fine (I never got a letter from them when I got the second Z).

There was something about it needed to be used in a years time frame from the vehicle purchase too, if I recall. The best bet is call Donna, she'll know.

The free class is only offered to the original owner and must be scheduled within a year of purchase. I'm the second owner of my 2011 ZR1 and had the unused "2-day class certificate" from the original owner and went through the same wishful thinking when I contacted Spring Mountain the first time.

Fortunately, forum members get a 10% discount on any classes. I think the ZR1 class is only being offered as a 3 day class now vs. the old 2-day class with option to upgrade to the 3rd day of open track lapping.

I went in late April of this year & it was still a 2 day with 3rd day optional (extra cost). I did the third day of course...
