[ZR1] Intercooler Bricks a Must Do Mod
#22
This is going to affect guys who aren't running meth with higher boost the most IMO. This is caused by a combination of heat and boost. Even if you have an effective heat exchanger that will viturally have no impact on how your bricks hold up. The air is going to be just as hot exiting the rotors with an upgraded h/x or not. The longer the pulls you do the more chance there is they will collapse/melt etc. hence the reason mine has come apart twice. (My car has seen many many 5th gear pulls.) I'd recommend anyone running higher than stock boost to upgrade their bricks. Its cheap insurance and you wont know theres an issue until its too late unless you pull the lid off your blower every thousand miles (which most people do not.)
Rant over. Sorry but its important, so do it. lol

Nice and helpful report and pics. Thanks!
From my life experience of modding cars once the mods start one always finds the weak links along the way. Always.
Other than my 1967 BB, my ZR1 is the only car I have left bone stock. I must be getting old.

Not too hard...... Too make it really easy you would have to do mod GKZR1 came up with and after that you can have it off in 20 minutes......
Then once done fill your system what I came up with....a large improvement over the way GM tells you to fill it.

Where are the fill details? Is it just easier than GM method or actually better? I have read it dropped IAT2 by 20deg, but how can that be if it's filled right by the GM method?
