Default Coolant Recovery Tank

If I fill my engine coolant recovery tank to the Full Cold line when the engine is cold then when it gets up to temperature it push's coolant out the vent and then goes back down to below the full cold line when it cools back down, is this normal? Also I noticed some bubbling in the tank where the hoses go in when the engine is running but I think that is just the coolant circulating in and out but not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

I would first start with changing out the thermostat. If it continues then you possibly have compression getting in the coolant from a crack or a bad head gasket. A leak down test would be next. Also monitor the oil level to see if it's getting milky and the level is increasing.

Technically it's not a coolant recovery tank. Rather just a fill tank. A recovery tank would be installed after the the rad pressure cap. The C6s don't have this. The pressure cap on the tank just dumps the coolant outside. A recovery tank after the cap would capture the expelled coolant and suck it back in once the engine cools down.

It's normal to have the coolant level go down if an overheating condition is occurring.

You are right I never thought of it that way, the car only has 800 miles on it and every thing else seems to be fine. Can someone start there car for me and look at the tank where the hoses go in and see if you can see any bubbling in the tank?
Thanks

Are your coolant temps normal on the gauge? Possibly the pressure cap on the fill tank is defective.

Unfortunately bubbling in the tank doesn't sound normal.
