Will Chevy change the ZR1 BHP?
I was reading in Road and Track that the new Shelby GT500 is going to have 662BHP? Does Chevy need to up the BHP? I don't think so. ZR1 will still smoke the Pony car.

Nope. Current ZR is singing its swan song.
Hopefully there will be another ZR with the C7 line-up.
Until then, you've got what you've got (stock that is).

I'm happy with mine (ZR1)....there will always be more HP vehicles. I'm not trying to keep up with the fords

Our little brother ZL1 Camaro beats it in the short courses.
In the long course where the big HP of the Mustang helps it, the Mustang was faster only for the first couple of laps and then the Camaro was quicker for all the rest of the laps. I would say FAIL for the Mustang as they really wanted this car to be a road course car too, but their paltry 302 is a better track car than it.
The ZR1 has nothing to worry about in any category against the Mustang.

I think they do...not to beat the GT500 think it's got that covered now.
but as we all know #'s sell and the next top off the line Vette will be around 700 BHP..I don't think the GT500 will be their target the new Viper deff will be.

700HP is absurd. That's more than any Formula 1 car from the pre-turbo era. Is there a practical limit for how much HP can be put down on the ground and still remain a drivable vehicle on public roads.

I dunno. . . Katech, LPE, LG all with relatively minor mods that don't affect driveability easily take the ZR from 638 to 700+. Doesn' take a lot to get another 62 hp out of the LS9.

I just put 4000 miles on my LG ZR1 . It made 750 rwhp they built it last year for me around d october I think. Left Kansas june 30 drove to Memphis hit beale street. New Orleans for bourbon street. Dayton Beach, South Beach, Key West and back to Kansas july 14. No problems at all so yes they could crank it up little.

I think the issue for GM is fear of increased warranty costs until longer term data is available from the field on the LS9. Besides, the C7 Gen is almost upon us and the HP wars will continue based on the C7 models. No real driving reason to do anything for the current ZR1.

The 2012 COPO Camaro has a factory 4 litre whipple supposedly pushing 900 HP. Not for the street, but GM is competing in the HP wars against the Mustang and Challeger on the strip now. Seems a very late entry if they are not seriously considering continuing, although there is a difference between strip and street.
The late HP war of the early 70's (70-71) was killed in part due to the bad recession at that time. Yes, I was there So hedge your bet ...If Romney wins the election this year, GM continues. If Obama wins, GM cuts back
Heck, we haven't even mentioned all the technological advancements happening at "warp speed" affecting CAFE standars
I'm not taking any bets, NO WAY!

There are many factors that determine what GM does with their production plans; politics being one of them. I was painting with a broad brush to descibe this in my post.
It seems you are a little overly sensitive. Had I used any more emoticons, I might as well have cut and pasted them all.
