Sport Auto Test
The German car magazine Sport Auto just did a comparison of 2012 Corvettes including the ZR1 w/PDE, Z06 w/Z07, and a GS. They do their testing at the Hockenheimring and use the 1.6 mile short course for all their lap times. They have hundreds of lap times for different cars on this track. The lap results were as follows:
ZR1 - 1:08.3
Z06 - 1:08.7
GS - 1:11.9
This puts the ZR1 4th overall all time over such cars as the GT2 RS, McLaren MP4-12C, Aventador LP700-4, and 458. The Z06's time was good for 9th overall. Here is a list of lap times from Hockenheim Short.
Here is a link to the rest of the article if you want to see it, but it is all in German.

It looks like the Hockenheim Short course has a little more straights than say the 1.5 mile Radical course at Spring Mountian which is more of a glorified autocross.

Well, I don't speak German but I see two glaring errors right there.
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 1:08.30 137 '08 647hp / 1530
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 1:08.30 137 '08 647hp / 1530

But yeah the "'08" has got to be a typo...

_"SCOTT"_
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Z07 Package 1:08.70 136 '11 512 / 1394
But the article clearly shows a '12 ZR1 with PDE so the '08 MY is definitely wrong.

That is from the Fastestlaps web page (not related to Sport Auto) and they use the DIN hp rating and use the year that car model was released for production instead of the inital model year. Since the ZR1 has not undergone any major changes since its release in '08, it still shows up for that year. While I don't agree with calling it an '08, I see why they don't want to create a seperate entry/page for each year of a car if there are no major changes.

racerns explanation sounds reasonable. However, I watched a video earlier today where the presenter said the following: "The Bugatti Veyron has 1001 HP which is abou 987 North American HP..." Is there really a difference between NA HP and EU HP?

DIN hp is usually expressed in metric hp which is slightly different than mechanical hp.
1 metric hp = 98.6% of 1 mechancial (or SAE) hp
1 metric hp = 98.6% of 1 mechancial (or SAE) hp

And for which of those top 5 cars can you simply walk into a local showroom and pick the color you want? Anyone have a Gumpert dealership in their neighborhood?
The last time I wandered into a Porsche dealership and asked about a GT2, the salesman laughed at me.
Same for the top 10. Pretty impressive for Chevrolet.

Of the 3 cars on the list above the ZR1 the Maserati is not street legal, the Donkervoort is pretty much a Lotus 7 on massive steriods that may be street legal in a few countries but is pretty much a track car, and I don't know much about the Gumpert as far as it being a steet car vs track car.
