Default Do ZR1's have magnetic drain plugs?...

My guess is no since the Z06's discontinued them in early '08. Thought I would ask to be prepared when the time comes to change my oil.

I also want ask if anyone has added these, and do you guys think it's a good idea, or not necessary? (opinions please)

The picture shows what I used for my '08 Z06. They showed the typical "fuzz" in between oil changes but nothing major according to other people's experience.

They do not. I considered adding them, but decided 10.5 quarts, a good oil filter and frequent changes made them unnecessary.

1) 2010 #574 did not come with magnetic drain plugs.

2) Yes, I think they're a good idea.

3) If you discover that you need them, it's time to sell before things get worse.

2011 does not. The oil tite magnets are not as strong as GMs were. -pp

Not on my 2011. GM hasn't installed magnetic drain plugs for several model years now. I believe '07s had them but not '06 or '08+ years.

They certainly are helpful for collecting needle bearings dropping from the rocker arms into the sump from above.

The GM OEM magnetic drain plug was part # 11578377, however they superseded it to 11562588 that does NOT have the magnetic.

There are a number of aftermarket companies selling them. I think they are a good idea, however, I don't agree they should be used to allow one selling off a potential problem to someone else as one of the earlier postings implied.
