Great video, I can't wait to get there in August and help build my newly ordered ZR1 LS9, my old L71 will never seem the same.

Don,
I purchased my 2011 ZR1 a year ago this month - on September 29, 2010 to be exact. My previous Vette was a 2005 convertible. Like others on the Forum, I have owned other domestic and foreign high-performance vehicles along the way. I have never owned a car like the ZR1. It is terrific. I attended the Spring Mountain driving school to "dust off some rust" and make sure I was gettting the most out of the car.
I regret not doing the engine build experience, as I have become increasingly interested in the workings of this amazing power plant. One of the basic questions to which I am having a difficult time finding the answer pertains to the fuel injection system. Is it a direct injection or port injection system? My guess is the former but I really don't know. I promise not to bug you with a bunch of questions. I am not a automotive engineer but am just trying to understand the ins and outs of this magnificent car better.
By the way, Bob Blomfield built my engine. It has been a terrific performer and hardly used any oil during the first 1,000 miles and none since. Please give him my sincere thanks and appreciation for a great job. In addition, I really enjoyed your video and wish I could have seen more detail.

Hello Frank,
Showed Bruce (not Bob) your message - big smile from him and a thumbs up. We're glad you are loving your dream Vette. All that power has to keep you smiling!
The fuel injection on the LS9 is port injection. The injectors are in the base of the supercharger, just above cylinder head inlet runners. I'm sure all that boost moves fuel into the combustion chamber very well.
Too bad you didn't do your own build - maybe next time? If you do, bring a list of all your questions, we have engineers and specialists that are eager to answer.
I've built with three customers so far and all have done very well. It's serious work but we've had some good laughs too. And you get the VIP treatment all the way. Plus the thrill of knowing you did it!
In fact I just heard that one of my guest builders (and his lovely wife) are coming back, to do an LS9 for his new ZR1. Some folks just know how to live...
We'll be looking for your order...
Don
PS: Here's a link to a good article that covers an LS9 build in more detail.

The engine build experience is an experience of a lifetime, I am thinking about getting a Z06 now, and coming back for that 7 litre experience after doing the LS9.

Are you ready for us to come back this summer?
(thinking a few will be taking vacation to avoid certain TRZR1 owning pests )

Don,
Greatly appreciate your enthusiasm here. Look forward to meeting you 6/30/12. I'll be there with my brother and we will both be working on a couple of LS9's.

Oh Brother...
I did an LS9 build last week with John and Tracey, a husband and wife team. The build went great and was a good time for all! Big smiles when we fired up on the balance stand.
Thanks for the posting and I'm looking forward to meeting you both.
