I am envious of all you ZR1 owners. I am considering ordering a 2010 ZR1 but as you know you can't test drive one anywhere. I live in Minnesota and want it to be my daily diver in the summer. Is that realistic?
How does the ride compare to a 2008 convert with the touring suspension?
14,000 miles of smiles with mine.... and yes; it's my daily driver! Wasn't going to be, but it rides so nice and is so much fun that I couldn't imagine driving anything else daily... unless you need 4 seats. Then a CTS/V would do just fine.
It is surprisingly docile when driving around town. You would never know that over 600hp is sitting beneath the hood.
The touring selection on the suspension is a pretty comfortable ride and good for daily commuting. Switching to sport can get a little rough, but it is good when you want to play with the car.
While the seats are a big complaint for lateral support in high speed cornering, the seats are very comfortable for daily driving. Sound system in the 3zr package is nice along with the GPS, power seats and bluetooth. Everything you need for daily driving.
One thing you do need to consider for a daily driver is the location of where you are driving. The car is really low to the ground with the splitter and carbon fiber panels on the side of the car. If you have speed bumps and/or a steep entrance or exit out of something, you will need to be very careful. For example, I enter and exit from the exit of my corporate parking lot. My C5 bottomed out on my first day going into the entrance, can't imagine the damage that would happen to the ZR1. So take those into consideration.
I had a Z06 before I got my ZR1. The first thing I noticed when I first drove the car was the smooth ride while in Tour mode, it was noticeably smoother than that of the Z06. However, I also noticed that cornering in Tour mode was very good (as good as or even better than the Z06). Cornering in the Sport mode is exceptional. Friends of mine who have driven in the ZR1 have told me that the ride seems as smooth as that of a sport sedan.

I had a 2005 with the F55. Loved it. The ZR1 with the F55 is great. I still have a ZO6, this ride is superior to the ZO6. (Still love my ZO6) I wouldn't hesitate to use it as a DD. As noted above, be careful exciting drives. You will have to learn discipline. Hard to keep your foot off the throttle.
I LOVE this car...came out of a 3LZ 09 Z06 and the difference is easy to feel. Very smooth running around town and the sound when you step on it, is just great...I'd def DD it if I weren't sitting here in Snow-Hio lol...df

pete, i got my 2010 zr1 three weeks ago and no regrets. i kept my 2006 vert (z51) to get some sun. zr1 is a DD. smooth, comfortable until you put your foot into it. you will not be disappointed. i don't think it would do well in snow. these are race tires. and not much clearance in front.

Best Vette yet in everyway. Faster (here come the rants), quicker (even more rants), quieter (Michelins, may change with age), more comfortable, nicer interior (3LZ), braking (Carbon Ceramic), no brake dust, attention getting, handling (again Michelins).....
Yes...It's more expensive, and yes I don't get the MPG's that other C5's and C6's make... Go for it...
