GM should offer the ZR1 with a Auto from the factory. All the other super cars made today have a Auto option. Callaway is already putting 606HP through the C6 Automatic so the 640HP of the ZR1 shouldn't be a problem.

Callaway SC580 and SC606 Corvettes are available as automatics. They are also available in targa coupe or convertible styles, offering a lot of choices for powerful performance!
The hottest configuration for 2010 looks to be the new Grand Sport with our Callaway SC606 package

Your car looks awesome as a Callaway GS conv !! The GS seems to be perfect for your company to offer the conversion on a conv, or an automatic. You must be very happy that Chevrolet released the GS model.
Seems to be a great alternative for these members asking about an automatic ZR1. Your companies reputation is outstanding too. And you never even paid me for the endorsement !!
Plus it doesn't have the see-thru hood for the ZR1 customers who don't like that.

Let's be clear - the F1 tranny on cars like the Ferrari are not the same as what is offered on other vette models. If they offered a sequential transmission like on the F cars, I would take that option in a heartbeat. You just can't shift a manual up or down as fast or accurately. If you are talking about what GM currently offers, I'd stick with the manual on the car currently.
Are you offering a 5/100K warranty on that engine and transmission combination... ?
jas
Our standard warranty, is for 3 years / 36k mi on the powertain, supplementing the GM Powertrain Warranty. We are on the verge of releasing our 5/100 optional extension for those who wish to have the coverage match their GM Warranty.
Have you had an opportunity to drive one of our cars?

Thank you - The black convertible, was the first Callaway Corvette delivered under RPO R8C - National Corvette Museum Delivery. The car is also pictured in this month's issue of Corvette Enthusiast Magazine We are very pleased to be able to have our Callaways delivered under this option and are the first and only specialty manufacturer to do so...
Hood designs are quite subjective. We're glad folks like or designs and offer a choice between the standard carbon fiber hood bulge and our optional C16 hood designs
I am quite suprised how many on the forum speak bad about an auto in a Zo6 or a ZR1. A auto in the ZR1 would be a great option. An auto is much easier on axles and diff in stock form or with mods. A auto is also much more efficient. I like the 6sp manual because it adds more fun to driving experience, but a auto is not just for the "handicap" like others have mentioned. Now a days very few vehicles come or have options for a stick and my everyday car I would never go back to a stick again. If I had the 100k+ for the ZR1 I would say sign me up for the auto and let the mods begin....

I was going to say the same thing. The A6 in the GM applications is a far cry from a F-car F1 gearbox or something like the Lambo E-Gear.
I would venture to say J Hebert will be the first. If i had a ZR I would beat him to it and would have already had an auto tranny in the car
They are working on the SFI flywheel right now for me, it's the 6-cyl. bolt pattern but I got it covered. Just to be clear, this is just for me to feel the zr as an auto, it WILL be quicker, but I will end up using the modded Z06 m6 as my final solution. The auto may be in the car for a few months, but then It will be sold and installed for a customer at some future date. I will get a 9sec pass as a 6sp. in the next month or so, after that we will do the auto to get the 9.50. The best part about Doing the zr is the tight convertor I plan to use. Bash on, but this car will only see street duty and 1/4 track play.
GM should offer 2 diff. ratio options for the tr6060, not everybody wants/needs the close-ratio. It's the biggest reason for the poor 60' compared to a z06
I believe one of GM's larger trucks...offers an automatic transmission without a torque convertor and shifts gears via a computer ..(rather than a torque convertor)
This is a heavy duty unit and it should be offered in the ZR1 with driver controls as well as automatic mode options..
Its very similiar to the recently released Mercedes more direct drive in the very sporting AMG line.
The beauty of the transmission without the torque convertor is that it offers higher performance and the same direct connection of a manual transmission.
The benefit being consistancy and faster shift times...fwiw..the automatic CTS V was the vehicle GM chose to lap the "ring" as the fastest lap time for four door sedan in the world...(until the recent 150grand time trials for the Porsche Panamerica)
Hopefully GM will offer up some type of non torque convertor automatic for the corvette lineup sooner rather than later..
A full on Dual clutch transmission would be the best scenerio though...

There is no valid reason that Chevrolet has not put the Automatic in the Z06 or the ZR1. At least, none that I know of. Just think of the additional sales opportiunities they would have. Some people just dont want a clutch anymore. I am one of them. Its just Chevrolet being Chevrolet. Several years ago they starting putting certain options in packages and thats the only way you could get an item, like HUD for example. Chevrolet needs to let the people decide to buy what they want, not what Chevrolet wants us to have. Since the CTS V has the Automatic, again, there is no reason the Z06 or ZR1 dont.
Even though I am a pretty decent shifter I hate manuals! If Nissan can put an F1 shifter in a 75k car, so can Chevrolet! I love the shifter in the GTR and Gm should have one as an option in all their Vettes!
