That's right, and the track air could have been much better.

60' 1.432
330 4.213
1/8 6.547
mph 106.33
1/4 10.241
mph 133.51

Mods are upper/lower pulleys, headers/no cats, Katech heat exchanger and Z06 gearing in the trans. The only other mod was tuning out torque managment and my driving. I need to take this opportunity to thank lfsglass for his help in swapping my transmission, my back is pretty sore these days, and he just stopped by to lend a hand......well, turns out, he did MOST of the work. I was there, but he turned 3 out of every 4 bolts and for that, I owe u buddy!

Stay tuned, I am going to talk Richard at WCCH to send some heads to me, and I will port the blower as well. I know we can do this with a stock cam, but a custom EPS grind will insure success. We look forward to hitting the 9s in the next 30 days. The 2.97 transmission will make it's way into the car b4 I try the auto, but I think 9.60s is not out of reach when we are done. Other than the headers, this car appears bone stock. BTW, the DA was only -100 last night and we use shell 93oct fuel

Congrats on your time.
Just out of curiosity, assuming you have an overdrive 6th gear as in the Z06, has the gas mileage improved?
Also, w/ the improved pump/heat exchanger how noticable is the improved power retention from reduced heat soak?

Thanks,
John

Congrats on the run John. I see the DA dropped into the negatives last night. I knew i should have stayed at the track.

The first 9 sec ZR1 could have appeared last night with race gas and a little more timing !!!!

I think this may be the first I have heard of swapping gears for Z gears? Whats the mph gain in each gear? Are the stock gears like that of the Z51 tranny (shorter) in the ZR1?

Congrats on the great run!

I used the 2.66 gear trans last night, I am building a 2.97 unit that should get the 60' well into the 1.3x range. And yes, highway mileage up a good bit, going from 2400rpm cruise to 1400rpm cruise. The car is now slower from 150-200, but quicker 0-150 As far as heat soak, I made 2 passes back-to-back and the 2nd pass was quicker, but I shifted around 5800 instead of 63-ish.

Nice job. 10.2 is really moving. I have LS9 head stud kits which you'll need because those head bolts are unobtainable.

I am going to need the million-layer head gaskets as well, going w/ ls3 heads and thinking about shaft rockers using 1.8 on the exhaust while keeping the 1.7 on the intake. The car put 649ftlbs to the tire and the plan is to get the hp way up and not loose ANY torque. I take pride in the knowledge I have building race engines, but have never been a fan of boost on the street, so lets hear some suggestions on my mods and game plan. I was going to retain the stock cam, but everything in me says I need to play with it, and I won't have to run the 1.8 on the exh. if I custom grind a cam.

649 ft-lbs at the wheels

Just make sure you order some extra washers from me. The LS3 head bolt pad is lower than the LS9 so you'll need extra washers to make up the difference.

His shift point was 500 rpm earlier with the tranny swap.

Was the gearset just changed on a ZR1 tranny or did you change over entirely to a Z06 tranny? I'm unclear if a direct swapout is possible due to the clutch differences and also the beefier casing on the ZR1 tranny.

Thanks

The transmission casing is the same for all TR6060 transmissions. It is only the internals that are different.

Now when it comes to the differential, the casing is beefier on the zr1 as compared to the z06, which is beefier than the c6.

Congrats John!

What kind of launch RPM were you using and what brand/size of rear tire?

With regard to the ZR1 diff, it also has the cooler line exiting from the rear of the case as opposed to the bottom. This is nice to know if you're putting it in an '08 or earlier Z06 because you need a fairly significant notch in the cradle.

Cheers, Paul.
