Great job Neil and Ranger. I received the e-mail invite and thought about driving down from Annapolis but was tied up at work. BTW- I heard you coming out of your neighborhood followed quickly by your Dad.

Ranger did you scan the ZR1 during the runs? Anything interesting noted therein, such as timing pulled during shifts, or heavy IAT spark effects or anything else?

What was the launch RPM/shifting technique? Cool down technique?

Any nuances to the dual clutch in launching or shifting? Any pedal issues like we all suffer?

Racerrn that is some accomplishment to get 1.7's on stock tires! Fast shifting is only a bit of practice away... though your shifts sounded very fast...did you scan and compare the shift time to Rangers?

I'll stop now. I always have 20 questions.

Those are kind words, vetteuphoria, racerns and I thank you for them.

I doubt that many ZR1s will ever see the track. In light of that, Z06Jeff, racerns and I set out last April to demonstrate the capabilities of the car in straight-line max acceleration. This is a stock car with warranty in tact. In so doing owners without the opportunity or inclination will still see it documented and know their cars are the new king. That was shown clearly on this car's second track day. And two more this season are planned.

We did not end up doing any scans. I forgot about bringing the laptop with the scan software. Nothing special on my shifts, as close to redline as I could and did not powershift. The dual clutch is a definate improvement and I had no pedel issues. It can take a little more abuse than a Z06 clutch.

A great way to safely R&R wheels with carbon rotors is to use one of those gadgets that lifts the tire on rollers and lets you roll the car around on casters. Jack the car, then support the tire with the gadget to remove and install.

I've mounted CCW Corsair Race wheels (only come in 18") on the ZR1 and the fit is tight but sufficient to clear the 15" rotors. I've not tested wheel alternatives to the Corsairs, since I already had a pair of them for my Z06.

If you order Corsairs, be sure to tell John or Chip at CCW that the wheels are for the rear of a ZR1. That will ensure correct offset/back-spacing.

When changing tires, take care to mount the blue booties over the C/C rotors, to avoid an expensive, hard lesson-learned.

In an abundance of caution, we have been using two pairs of hands to maneuver the wheel on and off the hub.

Good tip. Thanks.

Now, if I could just fit that thing into my Z06, with the cargo bay and passenger seat already pretty much cubed out with track gear. Might fit something more, so long as it's sand.

Been considering a trailer. But seems a luxury for a DD.

You need one of these. < $200 from Harbor Freight and stores upright in garage taking up very little space. Only problem is, the regular c6 hitch didn't fit the Z06 due to the Z's muffler vacuum tanks...they may have changed the design by now, I've had mine since 2006 and haven't looked lately.

My experience is there's more to a good pass than just the 60'. Among the other things is what happens on the 1-2 shift. That's why I focus a lot on the 60'-to-330' incremental. That one is crucial and where a DR gains most of it's advantage.

That said, I've made just 6 passes in a ZR1 on drag radials. So the 60' is a work-in-progress. Sequence in Monday's three passes was
1.72
1.71
1.68

1320' were
10.730
10.734
10.736

Take another look at the last time slip in the OP. It was for Ranger's last run with DRs and has 60ft time of 1.689.

Hey Ranger, do you think Michelin's PS2 ZP's will produce better times for the Z06 than the GY Supercars?

Looks like the perfect set up, Joe. Thanks. Wish that one would work with my Z06.

I haven't tested that, personally. A limiting factor to consider in the Z06 is the finicky LS7 clutch. So launch routines with the PS2 would need to be tested with the clutch you're running. If you have a friend with those tires, you might want to borrow them for a day of testing at the drag strip.
