Default Zr1 Dyno

I originally read a post,(Oct. 08), from Fast ZR1 regarding
his extra rear wheel HP obtained by a conservative tune from Speed Inc.
I went there on March 17 and had the same thing done to my 09 ZR1.
I was happy with the results.
From stock rear wheel HP of 549.39 to 570 and torque from
502.63 to 534.60. Again this was a conservative tune.
I have heard that some ZR1 owners are changing their pulleys.
Any results yet?
I'm just wondering how do you keep that power to the pavement?

The people at Speed Inc. in Schaumburg, Il , (847-891-0767), are great to work with although it's humbling to see their twin turbo Z0-6
with a reported 900 rear wheel HP.

Any ZR1 owners finding a rear chrome license plate frame that says
ZR1?

Howard,

Glad to hear you are pleased with the results. Great power for an otherwise stock car.

Let me know if you want a ride in the turbo car sometime.

Looks good. Nice stock and improved results.
(I presume you meant that you went there a couple of days ago, on March 17?)
Can you post the before and after curves - I'm still interested to see in how these cars are faring on dyno runs.
Thanks

Here are the before/after dyno runs. Coolant temp was brought to 190deg at the start of each run.

looking at the curve, they did a good job on the tuning

Care to elaborate? Not sure why you would post that but I've never met the owner of this car until the day I tuned it.

Nice job.
Amazing torque in this car, both in stock form and tuned.
Looks like a nice smooth tune. What do you change in supercharged car in the tuning (in general - no trade secrets). eg. can you electronically raise the boost pressure, or is that entirely controlled by the pulley size? (Does this supercharger setup have any type of bypass for excess pressure?).
Thanks

I did a pulley change (10.5psi to 15psi), Kooks headers, high flow cats and a tune. The car is now putting out 602hp SAE corrected. And yes, it's hard getting all that power to the ground. I haven't done anything yet to help it, but I plan on getting some 19" Z06 wheels so I can put some Hoosier 345s on them. That should help.

And I didn't want a chrome licence plate, I found a carbon fiber plate to match the car. Looks good too.

Just curious... if you're only going to do a tune and gain 30ish rwhp why even bother? With GM's new "crackdown" on tuning you've now voided your complete powertrain warranty.

Don't get me wrong... I've had my Z06 modded since I got it in 2003, but back then bolt-ons and a tune was "ok". After my extended warrant was up I put my cam in.

Do you plan on any further mods? Or is it one of those things that if you can afford a $120k car you're prepared to pony up for any driveline repairs?

I don't know yet if I will do any more mods on my ZR1.
I suppose if something went wrong on the car and I had to take it to Chevrolet, I could go back and reverse the tune. (?)
The problem in doing much more is how do you get the power to the pavement driving day to day?

Unfortunately you can't do that now... they have a method to check how many times the car's been tuned no matter what you do. There was a big fuss about it on the other C6 forums. It's been posted in writing form GM now... first thing techs are instructed to do is check for non-oem PCM recalibrations, or the evidence of them being there.

I personally don't see the point of any more power w/ street tires.

If you can afford a ZR1 you can afford to buy another PCM for tuning purposes and keep your stock one for dealer visits. PCM should be fairly easy to swap out, and are not crazy high either. I've got 2 TCM's for my TBSS, although, I understand my powertrain is voided, as should anyone that mods...But, when I break anything, its just an excuse to upgrade. I personally wouldn't buy a performance car and leave it stock, but that's just me. I don't want to rip off the dealer either, but I don't want him not fixing my AC or interior trim, because I have a cam or something.

There are only three things the ZR has that I wish my Z06 had:
1. Brakes
2. Suspension including wheel and tires
3. That E'ffn torque curve. Yikes!

Congrats.

Wouldn’t the odometer pose a problem if you switched out the PCM? I know its digital, but I’m not sure how it’s stored or tracked.

I'm sure it's like the earlier vettes (C4s) the odometer info is stored in the BCM (body control module)

Thanks for the replies, especially on the PCM which is very good to know.
Where can you buy the PCM and how much?
Regarding the dyno tune, I can really feel the torque difference when driving on the street.
I have had Vettes since 1968 and everyone was great, but driving the new ZR1 is beyond great!

So headers, tune and a pulley with 5 lbs more boost netted 50ish HP?

Am I missing something?
