Default "725hp ZR1 Killer", Shelby SS?

I started looking up ways to further improve the ZR1; including changing out the supercharger. I decide to look into the websites of our supporting vendors and came across this http://www.kennebell.net/

I have to tread lightly since they are a supporting vendor, but why target a car you support? Playing both sides of the fence I guess. As I looked more into their website I found:

*CAR - Shelby 725hp Super Snake
ENGINE – Kenne Bell 2.8L Supercharged
Liter - 5.4L
HP - 725
TQ - 620
¼ Mile - 10.8 @ 134
WEIGHT - 3920lbs (Tested with 4120lbs)

CAR – Corvette 638hp ZR1
ENGINE – Eaton 2.3L Supercharged
Liter – 6.2
HP - 638
TQ - 604
¼ Mile – 11.4 @ 125
WEIGHT - 3325lbs

*Car was tested by Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine (see reprint March ‘09 on our website) with Drag Street Radials, which we - and many Shelby owners - use for everyday driving on our 725HP Super Snakes. All the other cars listed above come with big wide sticky “325” or “345” rears.

There are a few lines that also make me laugh
1) They call it a “Super Car” then also say it’s “The fastest, Quickest, and Most Powerful Musclecar”.

-(which is it?)

2) “With cams, long tubes and headers, MM&FF Magazine made 1018EHP with the 2.8 Supercharger Kit. How’s that for performance and HP potential? All without those expensive heads, cams, headers, etc “

3) The “Super Snake” with it’s Shelby badged Kenne Bell supercharger is simply the baddest most powerful and intimidating production musclecar ever. It has everything (aggressive looks, handling, ride, brakes and image with no loss in fuel economy). And it’s guaranteed to turn heads for the next 50 years.

- (Does that mean a Lingenfelter Corvette is a “production” car?)

I can hear the bench racing now

10.8? impressive. hard to believe because it weights so darn much and then theres traction. oh, i see it had drag radials. i like the shelby's. just dont think there in the same league as the zr1. no offense but just a different class of car. just my 2cents

I don't really think it is a ZR1 or Z06 killer.
What are the times on street tires?
Can it even go around a course?

I'm not that impressed. With 725 hp a 10.8!

Put 725 ponies in a ZR1 and I'll guarantee it gets into the very low
10's - high 9's.

What is the point? It is a tuner car, versus production car. This scenario can be played out a hundred different ways with a hundred different cars.

It was the title they gave the car “ZR1 Killer” that stirred me up. Should we be flattered? Just seems the car was given a biased view as well as some advantages over the other cars (ilike the people testing it). Look closely at the points I mentioned (I had to tread lightly). What I really wanted to do was raise a especially at the ZR1’s mph

My point exactly. They make the car seem as if its factory. I’m still confused on the headers, cam, and exhaust thing; were they there or not. Anyway, just thought I would share…it gave me déjà vu of Nissan and the GTR claims.

There are already Zr1's running 10.2.
Just look on streetfire.

Of course, there always has to be someone who can't run on street tires.

The greatest comment "All shelby drives drive with drag radials for everyday use".

LOL!

They mean, "we couldn't break 11 seconds on street tires, so we had to put DR's on."

They said the GT500 was a Z06 killer.
Then it was the GT500KR,
Now it is after market that is.

They'll never learn.

Hell, my measly Z51 coupe can smoke a GT500.

I guess the FTC didn't find it wrong as you can still buy it.

I don't trust it though. I read an article where NASA tested alot of these "additives" for their rockets and found them to do nothing and on top of that, can damage the engine.

Guess when you are Carol Shelby, you don't have to worry too much about your own cars.

I agree. Here's a C5 that belongs to a friend of mine and it has a few mod's, like a carbon fiber body, SFI tube chassis, 3 disc titanium clutch and 3,500 HP. It runs 5.60's at almost 260 miles per hour.

Didn't Jamie run a 10.83 with a stock Z06 on drag radials? Would someone please loan Jamie or Ranger a ZR1 so we can see what they can wring out of it in the 1/4 mile.

800lbs heavier...it's going to need more ponies to make up for that...unless you never like to turn the steering wheel while using the power...
