I would be all over that!!!
If it happens, I'll do it when my 2011 ZR1 is built.

Wouldn't bet on everything being in place by August, but who knows? If there is enough demand it could be done quickly.

(PS I have been accused of being an optimist)

Tom recently transferred to GM Powertrain Engineering. He is a very thorough builder and was a pleasure to work with.

Good luck to Tom!

What a cool idea, an engine builder's tour, would love to be involved with that. Thanks!

Default Open House at Performance Build Center

Speaking of engine builders tour - we will be having an open at the PBC on Wednesday, August 12, during the afternoon. Exact times will be posted as soon as I know for sure.

This will give you a chance to see LS9, LS7 and dry sump LS3's being assembled and to meet the builders.

Our open house is timed in conjuction with the Woodward Dream Cruise in Metro Detroit.

Put it on your calendar, we'd love to see ya!

Have you found out anything on this option?
I asked my SA but he hasn't gotten any word yet.

I think someone should refer Mike Priest to these boards so we can all give him the credit he deserves.

No new info yet - we have been on our summer shutdown. But I will tell our management next week that there seems to be strong interest from customers that want to be involved in their engine build. Would be great to see it happen!

Mike does see your messages - but so far has not registered with the Forum. I'll try to get him more involved, but his main interest is building great engines!

That kind of involvement might make me trade in my 06Z for a new one!!!

Build it, then plant tour then Museum delivery. Sounds like a hell of a plan. (Just cant swing a ZR1 )

It sucks.

Sucks that it wasn't started earlier!

I did the buyers tour at the plant and the museum delivery for my Z06. I had wanted to go to Wixom to see the operation and hopefully meet the guy that put my motor together.

Hello Thom,

A few faces have come and gone since you transferred, but overall we're doing pretty well.

Right now though, we're all kind of stunned by the sudden death of Dale Simmet (an engine builder that retired last April). Thom, as I recall you worked pretty closely with Dale, so you know that he was a very smart and experienced mechanic. He was also the consummate prankster, so there was often laughter when Dale was around. He will surely be missed.

Sorry folks, the open house has has been postponed.

It has been decided that we will be shut down that week to match Bowling Green's schedule. Previously the plan was to keep us open at reduced output, in order to schedule the open house during Dream Cruise week.

When date is set, there will be a posting (athough I may be a little gun shy to do so). Please don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger.
