Another ****ty Car&driver test. As for the ZR1 numbers If I'm not mistaken, they did say in previous test they did not powershift in the ZR1, that's why it ran the Qtr mile in 11.7s.
That is irrelavant as the test in your link was from way back in September of 08[where ZR1's even for sale back then? Preproduction test numbers maybe] The current article we are discussing is a head to head same day etc test of 4 "production" cars operating in the same conditions and the Viper beat the ZR1 et al in this particular acceleration test. Pulling times from a different day, year etc doesnt transalate to anything but bench racing.
I love em both and they both have there strengths and weeknesses. The ZR1 absolutely clobbered the Viper in braking by about 20ft that is huge especially on a track. Would have loved to see a roadcourse shootout as well instead of top speed only. I suspect the ZR1 would beat the SRT10 on a roadcourse even if slightly.
Cant wait for the first roadcourse test between these two incredible machines. Imho since performance and price was a major factor in them deciding the winner it would be logical that the Viper came in 2nd as it was the fastest and the cheapest...But logic has long been absent from the Automotive media. Case in point the "Ultimate Track test" in which the car with the better interior and back seat won
Sorry but I have a hard time beleiving a Less hp,Less tq heavier LP560 pulls on a ZR1 after 120 mph...
Dosent make sense, I know the LP560 is hella fast but numbers dont add up..The LP560 cant be making any more than 500 rwhp stock
Viper is deffinately underated to be able to do that to a ZR1. Im sure the ZR1 would beat the ACR to 150mph though as the downforce will hamper the same angry snakes under the hood. Im blown away by the braking difference and the g's the ZR1 is able to muster. The car is serious all around and deserves the win.
Money no object though Id take the Benz Black series in black as a DD over the ZR1 or Murcie. That thing looks sick and is not that far behind in acceleration despite its ridiculous poundage.
