Default Bowling Green Closed until 23 Feb

Looks like the factory will not open again until 23 Feb. The ZR1 #'s are getting smaller and smaller.
Where are all those people who were predicting MSRP pricing by XMAS ?? They will be lucky to build 1200 cars this model year and with about 300 going to VIPs and probaly over 100 going offshore there won't be that many available. Prices have softened up some, but still a long way from MSRP
My car was one of the last ones built before the shutdown and my VIN is 538...

One thing is for sure, the fewer they make the harder it is to determine how MANY they are making.

So only 610 made, since production start, and there are still available cars, what does that tell you ?

That tells you that the dealers aren't in a big hurry to sell them and will hold on price. Most dealers were only getting 2 for the year and with the shutdowns maybe less. One ZR1 isn't going to make or break any dealers bottom line.

I put this out before---the Lost ZR1 Production for Jan and Feb will not be made up in the 2009 Model Year., It was announced before Closing that the lost Production will be made up in the 2010 Model Year Run -which also may or may not be Delayed..Sounds like that 2010 Production will not start up until after the Summer. Vacation.... If I remember Correctly Shipping will not Commence until March 6th at the Earliest....Sorry Guys but I am not UNHAPPY I paid $10,000 over Sticker......Harvey

My good friend here in town just a few weeks ago had his ZR1 came in but he decided not to take delivery of it. He paid msrp. He sold it to another forum member without even driving it. Made a few kkkkk's

I asked why, he said something else just came up and I said what could that possibly be?

Answer, well priced Ford GT with less than 2500 miles. He came by the house last weekend and I sort of see why, it's a street legal race car.

No, but the GT sure has the wow factor when you walk up to it. Hey, I love the ZR1 and everything Corvette, just gave my impression.

I love the ZR1, but a Ford GT is proven to hold its value without going insane on miles. Then again, if I bought one (FGT) Id drive the f'ing thing! And...knowing it was slower than a ZR1, would spend 1k and get it above the ZR1 without sacrificing much.

The ZR1 is pretty close to maxed out. Yes, it could be gotten to 600 rwhp..maybe without digging in.

FGT FTMFW

That said, I must keep my worked Z. Which...just chunked out the #7 piston....another 10k into the black hole...

Bugatti has them in brakes as of now. The 08 Veyron has 15.8" Front and 15" rear, carbon ceramic rotors and 8 piston front/6 piston rear calipers.

I know theres a huge price difference, both considered supercars though.

Or there is not enough buyers willing to pay what dealers want, despite there is few cars produced.
What happen when production of new batches hit the dealers ?
Finally we can buy them for MSRP or lower :-)

Let's be honest, Harvey is correct. If I had the money and paid 10K over, I'd be happy as well, and not just because of any possible slow or decrease in production. The decrease in production may or may not make the ZR1 hold it's value a little longer. Eventually the ZR1 will depreciate just like any other car. If I had a crystal ball I could tell you if it will end up being the 63 split window of our time, but no-one knows.

The fact that Harvey has the best Vette ever, and he is happy (and I am jealous ) is really all that matters. Chevy could easily made the MRSP 10K more and still sold more than they will build.

The car is worth what someone will pay for it, and I still don't see many going for MRSP. Those of us in the cheap seats (who can't afford one) seem to like to rain on others parade by debating price. Lets face it 10K is a 10% premium, If I had 105K whats 115K???. That certainly does not change it from affordable to not affordable for those in that market. And even at 150K it still would be a deal

If you love Vettes or any car, evetually you have to come to the understanding, they are not investments. I own two Vettes, and cannot give you one rational argument why I need them. I have two teenage kids a wife etc.....I have them because I can afford them and I enjoy them. They are my "hobby", nothing wrong with that, and if Harvey or anyone else wants to pay 20K over sticker, that's thier business and cool with me. I don't have to try and make them feel like they overpaid, to make myself feel better about not having one myself
