if anyone has been watching the kerbeck web site, they are advertising a zr1 for sale. the price of that car has been going up about 5 grand every few days. it was about $137,000 about 10 or so days ago. it has been going up and is now over $159,000. they have not sold it, so they are raising the price? i think 10-15k over is reasonable, but this?

Could be they have multiple bidders and are trolling for more to see what they can get, they do run a business and all. Despite what you read in 8 of 10 threads on this message boards there are apparently people who think the ZR1 is worth more than MSRP. The whole 'it's worth what someone will pay for it thing' that seems to have eluded all the shrewd, prescient non ZR1 owning people on this board.
Apparently all those misguided people have been so swayed by the compelling arguements of the people on this board to not spend their money how they choose and have since made some other 'what it's really worth' adjustments.
I hear VanGogh's painting is down from 40 million to the 6 bucks the paint and canvas actually cost, although I hear one guy is willing to kick it up a few bucks because "it's pretty'. Also diamonds are all now back to the worthless stones they were a 150 years ago before one company warehoused them all and cornered the market and created an artifical shortage. On top of the fact that we can also make diamonds more pure than any natural ones now.
But no, come here for all logic and wisdom on purchasing. Heck the wildly varying opinons on that seat from Caravaggio thread alone should be enough to get anyone to take large doses of salt with anything anyone ever posts on here.
Back in 2006 when the Z06 just came out dealers asked 10 to 15 thousand over sticker. Now look at the price. I know that production numbers are different but as far as I'm concerned the dealers can go to HELL with the numbers they want. For that price of 160,000 you jumped to the Ford GT, F430 and Porsche just to name a few

i don't disagree that the zr1 may be worth a bit more than msrp-with the current supply and demand, maybe 10-15 grand more. the reason that i posted this is that i have never seen a dealer advertise the price of a car for sale and raise it $5000 every few days-that is a new one for me. and this is one of your supporting dealers. maybe they can comment why they are doing this. i have no problem charging over list, but saying that it is one price, then constantly raising it when people are responding to the ads-that is a practice that i have never seen yet.
Should I buy a used F430 or new ZR1. Price of the F430 is 160,000. low miles
wow that's random question for this thread about a car whose price is going up.
anyway, they are totally different cars, so really it's a matter of taste and what you want. kind of like asking, should i get red or black? (well, not quite, since the answer to that is "black" of course. )

Since the plant is shut down, available ZR1 inventory is dwindling, so the one they have can be sold for more money. What is the problem with this? It is a free market and Kerbeck is a supporting vendor. Do they not have the right to sell it for what they want? I wouldn't see anyone complaining if the price was dropping every so often.
i have watched a black one from them do two auctions for 141,000 with a 142,000 bin....no takers yet
on the same note, one i was watching sold with a bin of 175k...it was at 120k with several bids and then sold for that crazy amount...and that is a CRAZY amount... i dont believe it myself...

Not according to jeffhardy.com. The number of ZR1s showing available hasn't changed at all in the last few weeks.

I'm sure the dealers feel the same way. This is a free country. Dealers can ask whatever they want. The point being made is that there are enough people willing to pay to keep the market strong, contrary to what has been said and is being said about pricing coming down.
Folks need to get rid of the anger and understand that as long as people will pay and supply is short prices stay high. The car is an absolute dream to drive and really can in no way be compared to a Z06.

I passed a guy in an F599 GTB today and his eyes were glued on my car as I passed by. It was almost like he was frozen. (of course my eyes were glued on his beautiful car too)

They can ask what ever they want, no problem with that. However, there is that "truth in advertising" thing...if they advertise one price and then increase it when you go to buy it, that's a problem. You wouldn't read an ad in the paper for a sale at a store and be happy to pay full price when you got there just because they decided to increase it.
Not to keep hijacking this thread but I would have bought the 2009 ZR1 even at sticker but the dealers are playing the same game as they did with the Z06. Yes, I understand the math. I wonder if Jay Leno, the NASCAR drivers and MARIO paid over sticker. I wouldn't pay a cent over sticker for any car even if I was listed as one of the richest people in the USA. Cash is still cash and throwing it in the garbage is not for me.

Someone must really have the hots for a 160 thou corvette because the dealer placed it in an area where there's more to chose from. F430, Ford GT etc... When you look at the sticker price of a ZR1 and compare it to other cars there is no comparing but at the price 160, there is. I hope they ask for 200 thou. Then what will the thoughts be?
It's a 2006 with a F1 tranny car has 2,700 miles on it and the price is 169 but the dealer will go LOWER. I met with them. not even a towel scratch on it
