For $175K + 10% buyer's fee. What a deal. The '93 only had 2,300 miles. The '09 was Cyber Gray with chrome wheels. I was wrong on the year of the original ZR-1. It's a '93, not a '90.
WOW!!!! That seems like a very reasonable number for the pair.

Reason: Wrong year. Can mods change the title of the thread?
Location: Lincoln NE Riding and Driving Corvettes since 1967.
Both cars belonged to Ressler. Not quite sure what the hell was going on, but when the auctioneer has to get the approval from Craig to sell, makes you wonder who actually bought them. Anybody else notice Craig looking down at his cheat sheet, scratching his chin and then say to spanky "sell it"?
The 1993 40th anniversary ZR1 was one of only 245 sold in Ruby Red interior and exterior, and special trim. Horsepower increased from 375 to 405 that year.
Yup, if those were your cars or mine no second thought by Jackson. But when the big boy's are there, then it seems the no reserve becomes an option. All BS.
By the looks of things Resler got them back.Funny how they work so hard on some cars and roll others off with no work at all.Depends who you are. You'll see these cars again, just watch. No reserve my ass.
look-people go there and some get a good deal on a driveable collectable car, but many wildly overpay with their shoulder rubbing style of refusing to end the auction until they get the money they want. how many times will you hear one of the bosses (jackson, davis or the head auctionier spanky pause the action to complain that they are way out of the money, even though that is where the auction is stopping, and you have a high bidder who is pleading with spanky or one of his employees to bang the gavel. then, out of no where, a bidder is resurrected who outbids the previous hi bidder. if you want to outbid those bidders, you are going to have to shoot for the stratosphere. and pitty the guy coming there with a car or two in his eye who is forced to bid against one of the glitteratty, the people in the first row (mr ron pratt, etc) who buy up a lot of the great cars to put into their private collections, never to be seen again. he certainly does auto collection alot of good, taking some of the best examples so only he can look at them. i have gone to the show, it is certainly fun to watch, but alot of stuff goes on that only the big boys participate in.

"only" 245 out of only 448 made that year. The way I count it that is more than half.
I think this is a function of the times we are living in. Previous years maybe even last year that set would have gone well north of $200K.
For many collectors even with lots of money like Ron Pratt they have lost a substantial chunk over the last year. You cannot escape the economic forces at play from investments in the market to real estate.
This year represents a time to swoop in and get some good deals on some truly great cars. Let's face it mega hp gasoline engines ain't gonna be around too much longer. What could a pristine ZR1 be worth 20 years from now let alone the 93 Z-R1?
Hmm a 2009 Lamborghi Gallardo lp560 or a 2009 ZR1 & 40th Anniversary 93 Z-R1?
I love the Gallardo, but come on thats a no brainer!
To the gentleman that got this great set WELL BOUGHT!
I agree that there is a lot of over paying but that drives the market up. Mecum seems to have better priced cars. Maybe not the pedigree but better for the average mans income.
I love the fact that the auction has been a no reserve auction for the past few years. There used to be too many cars that rolled off the stage unsold.

There is also a seller's premium too. The Seller of each car sold has to pay Barrett Jackson 8% and the buyer has to pay 10%.

Another pair just sold on Saturday. A 1990 Z-R1 and a 2009 ZR1, both yellow. I think they had matching VIN numbers at the end of the VIN. The pair sold for $203,500.
If I remember correctly on this new ZR1 and 93 ZR1 the Announcers said something like. Call Sherrif Joe , there has just been a theft. Somebody just stole these 2 cars at this price....
