Default Vow not to place a deposit on any car without contract at msrp

I PLACED A DEPOSIT ON A 2009 ZR1 2 1/2 YEARS AGO AT A LARGE CORVETTE DEALER & I THOUGHT SINCE I HAD PURCHASED A Z06 FROM THEM IN A PRIOR YEAR AT MSRP THAT THEY WOULD SELL ME THE ZR1 AT MSRP. I, HOWEVER DID SIGN A STATEMENT THAT IT WAS JUST A RESERVATION, BUT I GUESS I WAS HOPING THEY WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING. HOWEVER, WHEN MY NAME FINALLY CAME UP (ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO) THEY WANTED 25K OVER MSRP & OF COURSE I REFUSED. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO THEY CALLED & SAID THAT I COULD NOW ORDERME ONE AT 15K OVER- I AGAIN SAID NO. THE THING THAT REALLY MADE ME REALIZE THEY WERE WAY MORE THAN GREEDY WAS WHEN I FOUND OUT THEY WERE PURCHASING ZR1's FROM OTHER DEALERS TO RESELL.

LESSON LEARNED: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY PLACING A DEPOSIT ON A CAR WITHOUT A WRITTEN CONTRACT AT MSRP OR AN AGREED UPON PRICE. OTHERWISE YOU ARE JUST WASTING YOUR TIME. THE DEPOSIT JUST ALLOWS YOU TO BE ONE OF THE FIRST FISH TO PURCHASE OVER MSRP

I AM SURE MANY OF YOU FORUM MEMBERS HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE.

I HAVE RECEIVED BACK MY DEPOSIT & YES, I ENDED UP PURCHASING A CYBER GREY/BLACK ZR1 FROM A LOCAL DEALER AT A LOT LESS THAN 15K OVER MSRP. THE DEALER THAT I PURCHASED MY ZR1 WAS FOUND ON JEFFHARDY.COM

AND, OF COURSE, I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CHEVY DEALER AGAIN.

Same thing happened to me except I had a signed buyers order and they held my money for well over two years! I filed litigation against them about three months ago. It will take time, but I will get my end!

I have been sreaching high and low for a black 3zr with chromes and i have not had any luck other than everyone wanting 25-35 over msrp. THAT is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that it is a chance to make money but come on , Chevrolet should step in on these dealers and put some sort of cap on it! 10 over is understandable but i have talk to some as high as 50 over! I hope they flood the market with these cars and these greedy dealers get burned!!! So if anyone knows if the location of a black 3zr with chromes is for sale around 10 over MSRP let me know ! Thanks

Congrats on the car.
But, you still paid over msrp, which is something that you're against.
