ZR1 Replacement tires

I have had my JSB ZR1 since October and only have 500 miles on it.
(I live just outside Chicago)
My last car was a 2006 ZO-6 and the stock tires really could not handle the acceleration so the forum members recommeded Nittos
which was a big improvement.
The tires on the ZR1 really are not able to hold the pavement in moderate acceleration.
Have any ZR1 owners tried any other tires?

I was also thinking of having the air/fuel mixture adjusted as I have been told it yields between 40 and 50 HP.
Any thoughts from any ZR1 owners that have done this?

I'd wait until warmer temperatures to decide whether those PS2 ZP's hold up or not.
