This comes up a lot. The ZR1 is quite special in it's own circles. Surely a low volume collectible, as nobody's spending now. Not generating much exitement as the ZO-6 introduction. Main thing, Z's at $75K are still Vette owner affordable. Not cheap, but lot's of added technology for the buck. ZR1's just aren't doing that. $110K price tag and 200lbs overweight, not getting it.
I live in southern CA, car capital of the planet and haven't seen one on the road yet. They look great but doesn't seem to be the hit the C6 Z06 was upon it's introduction. Economy in my area is fair to poor presently, could really be putting the brakes on $110K cars. I'll keep my Z06 until things get better and maybe even after that.

I like the exotic materials that went into the design and construction of my Z06 and the ZR1 takes it even further. I would love to have the mag fluid suspension and those carbon brakes are something else. In the end, though, for the extra money it would take to switch over I'll keep the Z06 which is still an awesome car. If I had the money laying around though, I'd make the trade.

With the discounts on new Z's (selling for 63-69k), and the markup on ZR1s, (selling for 125-150k) there is a real 2-to-1 difference in price between the two cars, making the Z look like a smart buy. The differnce in performance between these two cars appears to be much smaller than a Z and the base C6 a few years ago.

If I had money just laying around, I'd love to have a ZR1. But I was barely able to justify the Z06 to the wife. There's no way I would be able to justify something that costs twice as much. I'd have to buy her something equally as expensive first.
There both great cars. The thing is 80% of people who buy either one will never take it close to it's limits. So that being said i would have to say ZO6, of course thats unless you have more money then brains. Unfortunately i fall short in both cases.

I can't stop thinking about those brakes. Their curb appeal, performance, oh and the replacement cost.
I'd definitely like to have a ZR1. It's pretty much the same argument of the ZO6 over the base coupe....you can slap a supercharger on, put on some Gran Turismo's, and some PS2's but you still won't have a ZR1
