The justification for buying the ZR1 is the motor and suspension. I own both a Ferrari and a C6Z. There is no comparision. A Ferrari 430 is not as fast as a ZR1 but its torque and power curves are perfect for the street and its workmanship unmatched. After owninig late model Ferrari's, I can tell you they are reliable and cost about $2,000 a year to service.
Take a look at Europeans and then Americans. You will quickly see how we "earned" the "fat" title. Best

Yup, it's the old Seiko vs Rolex argument. Some people like to march with the herd, others have the means and the desire to own unique toys.
But for this economy, in a few years there would have been a lots of ZR1's around. There will never be a lot of Scuderias on the street.
This gets so old after a while. Just enjoy your purchase, whatever it is, and get off of it already.

Still I like my C6Z and would not get rid of my Ferrari.
One of your "compilations" needs to be underscored. We are near 8% unemployment and going up. GM is and will be funded(I bought it at $2 and it is already over $4 and Obama has not taken office yet).
The ZR1 will continue to drop in price (not withstanding Bowling Green going out of business). Regardless, for those who want to keep a roof over their heads and maybe even buy a car at some point, plan on inflation.
The odds are overwhelming we will see inflation. To help better "feel" all this, below are examples of what a "Billion" means. Then contemplate a $10 Trillion debt to foriegn countries, including China providing some missles to those in Gaza (and understand why we can't just "tell them" to stop doing it).

you are correct. the zr1 may or may not be a car in short supply for demand in a few years, but you are right-enjoy your purchase. don't try to make sense of it. none of these cars make sense. at the end of the day, if you work hard enough/and or make enough, or are a member of the lucky sperm club and have inherited enough, buy it if you like it and don't try to make sense of it. if i had a bunch more money than i have, and if i wanted a zr1, i would just buy one. 135k, 115k, it doesn't matter.

On that note, a jewler let me try on a $32,000 Rolex watch just for the heck of it. This thing had what seemed like all the bells and whistles for a flashy watch. Despite the diamonds and white gold, I wasn't anymore excited about it than a normal watch, which actually have better warranties than that Rolex did. The Rolex only had a 1 year warranty, the shop threw in an extra year for purchasing it though.
Meanwhile I could buy a measely $99 dollar watch that takes time just well and has a 10 year warranty. Yeah yeah, I know it's not about durability when you're talking Rolex or in this case Ferrari, it's about displaying status. I've just never been the type that's got hung up on showing status or "look at me I'm different". Guess that's why I'll never understand the Ferrari worship.

Guys who buy them to pose it are disliked by most F Car enthusiasts.

It's all about $$$. You either have it or you don't. $$$ gives you options. The more $$$ you have the more options you have. Having options is good.
$$$ can buy exclusivity. I recently sold my 08 Z06 for a 08 Viper. I see on the adverage anywhere from 2-10 vettes a day in Houston and they do look pretty much the same. I've seen one Viper in the last 3 weeks.
Along with owning a unique car, I'm enjoying the V-10 and the driving experience the car offers.
