Default Zr1 turning question

Noticed that when I am standing still--then turn the wheel a little it feels and sounds like tires aren't grabbing...when you are driving no problem- it only happens at a stand still......or at avery slow start...any ideas??? Harvey

Maybe it has something to do with that the ZR1 is the only corvette that has variable steering, so turning the car while driving is different that it is standing still.

It's the big front tires. There are a bunch of posts on this. Some owners thought they heard a sound coming from the rear end under these conditions, but it's just the tires scrubbing. The care and tips sheet I received with the car also highlighted this issue. The tip sheet said you can verify by pouring water around and under the wheels. The water should provide enough lubrication to eliminate the noise and sensation. Another symptom of the wide front tires is significant bump steer. The car will follow ruts in the road. Surprised the heck out of me the first time it happened on my bumpy New England roads.

Harvey; The tires will "scrub" at very low speeds when turning sharp. It is covered in the dealer TSB, which is on here somewhere but I didn't see it. So all is normal.....
