I was ready to wire Funds to a Dealer for my ZR1.today..everything worked out, but I at the last minute I checked the Invoice and there was only the mention of FE9 Emmissions which is all 50 States, but it seems that for New York etc you are required to have NE1...the jury is till out until tommorow, but it looks like I have to have NE1 so I probably am back to Square one....Stay tuned......Harvey

Good luck Harvey. It's nice to see you fixed you caps lock.
That must have been heartbreaking. You are Sooo close I'm sure you can taste it. I am sure you will have a ZR1 in your future.
I'm not sure how long you have been in Oceanside but when I was a kid back in the early 70's we used to go to the Nathan's there and my dad would give each of some money and we would have to all get in line to get the food. The place was huge and there was a separate line for every item. There was also a stage for puppet shows and then we would go outside to the amusement park. Man those were great times with my parents. Being a kid was fun. I'm sure you will be a kid when you get behind the wheel of your new ZR1.

Pardon me for being ignorant on the emission package difference.
Is there some kind of true performance difference? Is it just an emissions tuning difference in the computer?
Can you even feel this difference?
What would be the reason for this one difference to cancel the purchase of a ZR1?
cheers!
PS I'm not being sarcastic, I really just don't know....
Ready to be educated.....

From my understanding the difference is simply a sticker on the side of the hood.
I purchased my 06 through a dealer in Colorado and so he ordered it CA emissions compliant and I still had to get it smogged before i could register it. They said it was becuase it didnt come straight here, it stopped at the dealership in colorado for two days. They also gave me a penalty of 480 dollars becuase I didnt register it within 20 days of the car entering the state. It had a denver temporary license that was good for 40 days so I didnt see a need to register it right away. Basically I had to pay two registrations at 480 a piece, the smog certificate, and all the ridiculous taxes. PLUS they gave me january tags even though I registered it on march 1st. go figure. SO I got 10 months of registration for the price of 24. Great deal
basically, its just a way for the states to make more money and make things more difficult.
Hope you can get that straightened out or can find another car with a different sticker.

It sounds like some kind of stupid bureaucratic crap about the way the car has to be certified.
To my knowledge there's not much, if any, difference between the FE9 and NE1 cars except for a sticker.
Here's a thread in the C6 Tech/Perf section about a Pennsylvania owner that bought a C6 in Memphis and apparently is having problems registering it in PA:
So California is not the only b!tch to deal with state in the nation.
New York has adopted the CA smog rules which, of course, every new Corvette meets. The following is quoted from the New York State DMV website:
"Your vehicle must comply with the "California" motor vehicle emissions standards unless the vehicle is exempt. Your vehicle must comply with the California emissions standards if your vehicle has less than 7,500 miles on the odometer . . .
To determine if a vehicle meets the California emissions standard, look for these words or similar language on the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO) and the emissions label under the hood:
"California-Only Vehicle: This vehicle conforms to U.S. EPA and California regulations applicable to (the vehicle model year) model-year new motor vehicles introduced into commerce only for sale in California."
"50-State Vehicle: This vehicle conforms to U.S. EPA and California regulations applicable to (the vehicle model year) model-year new motor vehicles."
"Federal Vehicle certified for Sale in California: This vehicle conforms to U.S. EPA regulations applicable to (the vehicle model year) model-year new motor vehicles, and is certified for sale in California."
If your vehicle complies with the California emissions standards, but the MCO does not indicate compliance or you do not have an MCO, you or the automobile dealer can certify compliance on form MV-74.
me thinks you have been told BS. The Vette is a federal car and has been since 2001. In California, many people STILL believe that you can't bring in an out of state new (Federal) car and get it licensed. That is entirely not true.
What is more likely true is that you will have to get the car smogged before you can register it in NY. If you still have the heebie jeebies, get smart and have the car delivered to a NY dealer of your choice via the Chevrolet courtesy delivery program. You might have to pay an extra $150 -$400 , but, hey, what else is new? This way your dealer in NY is responsible for the smog process and registering the vehicle. You still buy from your out of state dealer and everything works like a charm.
What are ZO6 owners in NY that are buying out of state cars doing? I can't possibly believe that NY is more stringent than California on ANYTHING!

What kind of deal did you make? Just curious to see if the a$$ raping is on the decline....
