I heard GM held shipments of ZR1's the last few weeks. My car was supposed to be released to Ryder on the 14th and it still hasn't arrived at the dealer. I was told GM held all ZR1 shipments for an extra "few days". Does anyone have any detail on this or do you think GM was just trying to let dealer inventory dry up a bit?
it could very well be a quality hold, which is good news, that way they can fix things before departure and you won't have to deal with a tech at the dealership who thinks he knows all about Corvettes.
Mine was built 11/3, and just released to Allied at the end of last week and will hopefully arrive early next week, but I am thinking end of the week. The car sat for over 14 days after it was completed.
There were a couple of days of plant closure in there, but it is easily 10-14 days for ZR1's.
They told me at the plant when I was there that was the norm, there are some exceptions based on the transportation schedule, but they were fairly infrequent.
The buyer's tour was an incredible experience, btw. Spent the entire day at the plant, the car was "married" first thing in the morning and I stayed until it was finished. Starting it on the assembly line (it is actually the second time it is started even though I tell people I was the first one) is almost as fun as talking to all the folks in the plant that love the cars as much or more than the guests.
I didn't do museum delivery because I figured I would get the car quicker if I didn't, not so sure that was a good decision...
Hang in there.

Plant is supposed to be shut down this week until the 8th. Don't know if Allied will be shipping during that time as once the cars hit the back lot for 2 week quality wait, it's in their hands. I do know the museum is unable to get any cars for delivery anytime the plant is shut down. This will be occuring for three weeks starting with Christmas. I know this because my car is rolling off the line on the 8th maybe 9th and I can't get it until 12/23 which is the last day the plant is open. If there is some delay, I won't be able to get the car until mid January......
Best of luck- the wait for me has been very frustrating. The car still hasn't left Bowling Green as far as my dealer knows. If you can get it on the 23rd, that will be a lot faster than the process I have been through.
Plant closures don't help if the transportation company really does wait until they have a full truck to leave.

Amazing anyone would trust the transportation company to care for a ZR1.
They come in a enclosed trailer and are not shipped til the trailer is loaded ( I think each trailer holds 10 cars). But if for example only 3 were headed to the northeast but in a week or 2 more will be built, then they will hold them til they have a full truckload ( XLR"S are shipped to that way, and are used by the same transit company).
Recieved my JSB ZR1 two months ago. It was almost 1 month late.
I was told it was a quality control check and they ship out when they have a full truck.
That being said, living in the Chicago area I only have 200 miles on it as the weather has been lousy.
In addition, I can't get on it on a good day as the tires break so easy.
Hope you live in a warm climate.
The car is awesome! You will be more than satisfied.
You may want to have the air fuel mixtures changed at a dyno shop. There is a supporting vendor of the forum, located in Schaumburg, Il.
(name escapes me) that does it and it generates 45 more rwhp.
