Was at a Chevy dealer the other day and was told "people are crashing in ZR1's". Haven't seen or heard anything on the internet or here. Has anyone else?
From tricycles to ZR1's, a bonehead will find a way to crash ANYTHING!
So, that does not seem at all surprising.
I would imagine that's quite some power, and if used unwisely, might lead to uncorrectable consequences.
Now, if it's "unintended acceleration" like in the Audis of the 80's, now simply known as operator stupidity, aided by a slightly flawed design, as opposed to demonic powers. Now something like that would indeed be interesting!
We heard these stories shortly after the new Z06 came out.....and even saw pictures and video. Hopefully at this point in manufacturing and deliveries it is only a rumor.
Quite a few 2008 Vipers have been crashed on test drives in front of dealerships. Search and you will find pics. So, ZR1's being crashed would be no surprise. Very few people have owned a car with more than 400 hp, and those newbies think you can just mash the pedal in a 600 hp car and be able to control it the same way.

NOT ME!!! 4300 miles of safe/(almost)sane driving.... haven't even scraped the spoiler. And I haven't heard of anyone pranging one yet. But I am sure someone will.....
active handling cannot change the laws of physics....if you are too hot in a corner...you are too hot...no active handling system in the world can correct for inexperienced driver with too much power and not enough brains....
sooner or later a zr1 owner is gonna see what the car can do....and find out what he can't do...while i think most owners are responsible, not all of them are...
just go to exotic wrecks and see all the high performance vehicles that inexperienced dumbasses have wrecked...no car is immune
I only have 150 miles on mine so far and have only jumped on it a few times. The power is intoxicating and the sound is mesmerizing. Hopefully I won't ditch it!

Lemme think about this for a moment... I think all cars can be crashed, so yeah, I would believe them when they say people are crashing ZR-1s.

Nice garage.
Lemme guess, black gold?
150 miles is probably more than Leno has on his, but cmon now, punch it and enjoy it - just do it safely.
I guess you are just gonna keep her in the garage though? That is a shame.

Right after I bought my 06 Z, I hopped into the Viper as I hadnt driven it in a week, granted it has much more power, regardless I almost lost total control on the 2nd to 3rd shift, got to used to the nannys the vette has, I usually leave the vette on competition mode
