I would like all corvette forum members who plan to wait for msrp before they purchase a corvette zr1 to get acknowledged in this new thread. If we stop paying above msrp the dealers will realize that msrp is market. There are still dealers that think that 35 to 40k above msrp is market!
unfortunately this thread means absolutely nothing to dealers....there's many more people out there willing to pay over sticker still that aren't on this forum....the market will adjust eventually, but it will have nothing to do with this forum.....
I am personally waiting and hoping as many as possible will do the same. For the big money Celebs, this thread will be meaningless. But once the Celebs get their cars, then the market is going to dry-up for pricing above MSRP. JMHO. There is a limit to how many buyers there are for cars in the 6-figures. Additionally, the price differential is too great for most of us ordinary Joes to justify between the market prices of the Z06 and ZR1. Note that I am talking about market not MSRP price differential for the two models.

It cracks me up that people think this forum really has a large scale impact on anything GM.
This place is a small sample of the overall amount of owners out there, especially those with incomes that can afford paying cash for a ZR1.
I promise I will not pay more than MSRP in 09, because I bought one in 08 and have been enjoying every singe day for tha last 2 months. This car is worth every single dollar I paid, and then some.
Instead could we get all forum members to vow to quit b*tching, moaning and complaining about what it costs to get a ZR1? But I guess then there would be no new threads in the ZR1 section.

It would seem that the pool of buyers willing to buy above MSRP has already dried up. There seems to be quite a few sitting on dealer lots around the country that are not sold. This is a 6 figure MSRP car that at sticker alone puts it out of reach for most. Add 10, 25 or 50K to that and the pool gets even smaller. Couple that with the fact that most buyers who do their homework and follow sales can plainly see that the price is dropping and dropping fast. Consequently, they will hold out a few months and save thousands.
Keep in mind that some of these fairly low volume dealers who managed to get allocations for only one or two will probably be willing to sit on the cars for some time waiting on that one buyer willing to fork over the so called "market adjustment". After all, in markets like in Florida and California dealerships are still asking for premiums on the Z06. We also can't forget that most buyers willing or able to spend mid six figures for a two seater are buying "exotics", not American. Add to the mix the poor economy, winter arriving and concerns about GM being around to honor warranties and the picture gets even worse for dealers trying to get the huge markups.

The funny thing is that when the market REALLY does drop to MSRP, then we will have threads saying "the sky is falling, the sky is falling - I'm waiting now till they start selling them at invoice...".

How about if I pay less than MSRP? Does that violate the rule?
If you want the car so badly, go pay market prices.

If you pay less than MSRP you can start a new thread. I am not desparate for a ZR1. I will only purchase one when the Market is MSRP. I was even considering getting a GT-R or even a CTS-V as my 3rd car. I have a 2008 Viper ACR & a Shelby GT500 Super Snake to drive until I decide what my 3rd car will be.
