I think the only real mods that the ZR1 truly needs are:
Seats...
I think this Recaro seat as shown in a 911 would be about perfect. I believe it's also available with a side airbag. A harness bar and real seat belts would be nice.
I guess that the ZR1 logo could be put on the seat so it has a true custom look similar to this RS seat.
Then put this steering wheel on or take the original and get it recovered with alcantara and a 1/4 inch pad. I did this on my 997TT and it was one of the best mods I made. Much cheaper than a new wheel..
I don't really care for the Carbon Fiber, looks cool but no functionality at all. I guess they can make it without the carbon.
Now throw in a cool wheel like the HRE Carbon fiber- Aluminum or Dymag. I think it would look sick with the carbon fiber on the car.
I agree that the stock seats and steering wheel would be one of the first things that I would change. However, your selections are not my cup of tea. I would stick to Carrivagio for the seats and steering wheel. They make fantastic products that provide the desired functionality, while maintaining an OEM plus look. That is critical for me.
With regard to the wheels, I am actually growing fond of the stock ZR1's. I think I prefer the standard finish to the "bling" look. If I did decide to go aftermarket for wheels, I think I would go 360 Forged without question.
I just checked out the Carrivagio web site. Since the stock seats are just recovered they would not be worth the hassle in my opinion. The race seats look great but the do not provide adjustability of the seat back, and no air bag.
The steering wheel looks great. Makes you wonder why GM can't offer these simple upgrades????
Have you seen the cadillac CTSV seat??? That would be perfect or the C6R seat on Jay Lenos....anything but the stock c6 seat...I agree it's less than exciting....

I think the CTSV seat is a recaro and it might be a bit heavy and too wide.
I have sent e-mails to several distributers to get options that will fit the C6.
I had the Sparco DTM carbon seats just like those in my 996TT. They were beautiful, but a full race seat with about 1% padding. Not a daily driver seat for sure. I also had the Dymags on the same car. They leaked and were a PITA. Love the steering wheel. I wonder if Carvaggio can make the seats with heat? Also, the airbag light...is that still an issue changing out seats?

I don't know about the heating option but I think Recao Sportster CS seats have a universal airbag option. As I search it's becoming clear to me why GM did not change the seat. It looks like there is no off the shelf type seat that will fit and have adjustability.
I did a search for Jay Leno's car and came up with this. It looks like a modified stock seat.
When you go to sell the car you'll find out how many real people with real check books think that your ideas add anything to the car.
Same thing when you sell a house...you go through tons of wallpaper books to find the one you like and when you sell the house do you think anyone is gonna like the wallpaper? No chance! Do the upgrades because you like them, not for future resale.
These are the seats that are in Jay leno's car.,..made by Lear.. but apparently no longer distributed by Pratt & Miller..they are making their own now.. but these are very very nice..They are the contender seat..First button...
