Default My New ZR1 Is In My Garage

Picked up my ZR1 today. It is a 3ZR Cyber Gray with chrome wheels. Unfortunately it was raining, but got it home with no problems and immediately dryed it. I'm going to break it in just like I did with my Z06 three years ago (Z06 was traded in). My Z06 was a museum delivery and I was told I did not have to drive it below 55 for the first 500 miles as the manual indicated. I was told to constantly vary the speed, if possible, for the first 500 miles. The first 100 miles should be driven below 55, the second 100 miles below 65, and the remaining 300 below 75. And then ---

I intend to post some pictures, but they will have to wait until I return from a three week vacation (planned months ago) that begins this Saturday. My son (racerns) will be the lucky one to drive it some while I'm gone. So when I get home I'll have somewhat less that 500 miles to complete the break-in period. My son took some pictures while the car was at the dealership, maybe I can get him to post some.

Actually keeping the '90 ZR-1 was my wife's idea. My original thought when I decided to by a Z06 was to sell the ZR-1 to help pay for it. My wife suggested I keep the ZR-1 and eventually give it to my grandson, who was only four years old when I got the Z06 (three years ago). This really surprised me because I really wanted to keep the ZR-1 but thought my wife would complain about the amount of money I would be spending on the new car. Now, when my grandson is driving age in about 8 or 9 years, whether his parents will let him drive it is another question.

Default Few Pics

OK Dad it is time to change your sig.
Here are a few pics from the prep bay where they had the car waiting for us because of the rain.

Just so you guys know that the car is being left in capable hands while he is gone, I am a One Lap of America veteran and a HPDE instructor.

By the way, would any of you guys know if there are any open track events going on in the VA area in the next 3 weeks?

Congratulations on the new ride!! My oldest son has also joined the corvette brotherhood following his dad's footsteps with his first corvette purchase (new 08 black on black 3LT/F55 coupe) last spring thanks to Rick Daniel. It is a wonderful thing to see your passion for vettes passed along to the next generation.

It appears the interior is Titanium rather than Dark Titanium?? I am interested eventually to see some pics of Dark Titanium with the Cyber Gray outside.

I'm sure your son will take good care of your car and won't mind if you extend the vacation.

A true Corvette enthusiast, I noticed you wouldn't allow your fingers to touch the windshield (fingerprints). I do this when pumping gas and think "I hope it doesn't look funny"....

The interior is Dark Titanium. As I stated in the initial post, after I get back from a three week vacation I will take some pictures and post them.
