Default Stock tire ZR1 Hits the Dragstrip!!!!!

My brother, father and I went over to the strip today with the ZR1. Traction was an issue during the first few runs, but once the track starting sticking it was a handful of 11.0's@130.X...11.021, 11.030, 11.05, 11.06, 11.07. Most of these were hot lapping. All with 60 foots in the 1.9 range with the exception of the 11.02 which was a 1.88. I had an 1.86 but came up short when i went for 2nd :o.

This was all done on the stock PS2's, running the car after a 30 minute cool down...It went 132+. Next time out it will have some tires on it and we will be looking for 10.5x.

Those times are pretty much what a stock Carrera GT runs. Car and driver ran almost identical times as you did. THe Carrera only weighs 3148lbs though so that helps it with 30 less HP then the ZR1. So basically you have a car that runs just as fast or faster then a 500k car..lol. I love American cars As another comparo an Enzo will run down the quarter in 11.2@ 136mph. Pretty awesome that a Car that weighs more then both and cost just over 100k will run or outrun them both and is totally legal and able to be driven on a daily basis. And the rest of the world Claims america cant make good cars.

Excellent. As long as you're that close, I wouldn't change tires till I hit 10's. Did you play with the tire pressures?

Agreed do it with the stock tires first. I was wondering how long it would take for you to make it to the dragstrip with it. 10's are right there, it must have frustrated you a bit to be so close, so often and not quite get there. Still damn fast and some really good MPH.

Nice times! Do you think you can get those 60' times down with the stock tires by changing up the rpm's?

already 11.0s with 1.9 60fts. I sure remember alot of folks jumping my case here when I said 10.6-10.7s at 135 about 6-9 months ago....doesn't seem so far fetched now

Impressive times, and consistent too. These things will hit mid-10s pretty easily with a tune. Bet they still suffer the torque management issues once the coolant temps exceed 200F. That roots blower will also slow down almost a full tenth once it is at operating temps.

Thanks for driving your car like it is meant to be driven, all for the sake of giving the rest of us results

Very nice times. Is your car the one that was tuned by the Vette Doctors?

What were the conditions? In particular the DA. Englishtown?

Yeah,
It's called using the clutch and not destroying the transmission.

Very nice! looks like heatsoak might not be an issue seeing as how your times didn't drop despite hot lapping, at least no more than a non supercharged car.

With a good launch the short time come have come down to 1.83 at best IMO. The actual best for the day was 1.88. When My brother or I got aggressive with RPM it just blew the tire off. With all that torque down low there is such a fine line between bogging it or spinning.

At a different track with better prep it is easily possible to get in the 1.7's

Yes this is the vette doctor tuned car, I can say this was not preformed at Englishtown. I cannot release the track name due to the times we were running without a bar.

It was 64 degrees and the DA was +300

I am just wondering if any of you guys are worried that GM will be reading this and when you break the car they will not pay to fix it. I bet there are not allot of ZR1's in Syosset N.Y. area. I have heard that other manufactures(Nissan) troll sites and will void warranties. Well your car is tuned so they will void it if something goes wrong anyway.

So this is NOT a stock ZR1. You did say stock TIRES. Great times, but I, along with alot of others, would like to see what a SHOWROOM stock ZR1 would do in the 1/4 mile with a good driver.
