Default How will ZR1 tires perform?

While we're waiting for the real numbers, how do you guess the new ZR1 tires compare to the Z06 tires? Similarly, what sort of performance gains could be possible on a Z06 with ZR1 tires (if they could be fitted)? Nurburgring and quarter mile time come to mind as examples.

Z06 (Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar):
Front 275/35ZR-18
Rear 325/30ZR-19

ZR1 (Michelin Pilot Sport 2):
Front 285/30R-19
Rear 335/25R-20

One of the engineers that worked on the ZR1 said the Michelin tires were 2 seconds per lap faster than the tire that Goodyear brought to the test and hence Michelin won the competition. He did not elaborate at what track this took place. Hopefully Michelin will make these in Z06 sizes. The ZR1 tires and wheels will fit a Z06 so the same improvement should be seen.

I'm surprized they stuck with a 335 size for the rear and didn't up the anti to a 355 or 365, as traction will obviously be an issue with this car.
Especially in strait line performance.

Wonder if we'll see ZR1 tires, wheels or brake options for Z06s?

To me, a Z06 with the ZR1 brakes and MSRC would be the perfect Corvette.

I agree, but anything over 335's starts to look out of place.

Anyone I know with C5's swears over the Michelins compared to the GY Supercars. As soon as my goodyears wear out, I'm throwing them in the garbage and jumping ship to michelin as I love their tires on all of my other vehicles.

Great minds think alike, (don't forget the ZR1 tires).

What is the MSRC you speak of?

But yes, my Z06's will be getting ZR1 Tires/wheels just as soon as they are reasonably available.

Because when you oversize the rear tires too much in proportion to the fronts, you start upsetting the handling balance of the car. The 285's up front are probably about the largest that will fit, so if you throw huge tires out back then the thing is going to want to understeer like a bitch. I would prefer they release the car with properly sized tires for best handling. If you're going drag racing then a set of DR's are going to do a hell of a lot better than PS2's that are a couple sizes wider.
