The object in the hood window is the supercharger intercooler, not a plastic cover
For those of you who think the ZR1's hood window showcases a plastic cover, this is incorrect. The object you see is the top of the intercooler, not a plastic cover. The plastic cover wraps around the engine to cover the fuel rails as seen in the exploded view.
Now, some may say this has been beaten to death, but apparently some did not get the memo.

Even though the window could have been a good idea, with what you see (at least in pictures) it DOES look like a plastic cover. Just not too impressive.
It's like your house having a nice bay window that...faces the neighbor's house instead of the ocean. Yes, it's a nice window, but the view sucks.
More impressive are the superchargers that stick out were you can see the belt spinning the pulley. WE NEED MORE SHPROCKETS!!
Obviously, that is not possible, just saying is all
There are a lot of cars that people cannot afford, to be sure, but that does not mean that everything they have to say about those cars needs to be positive. These are opinions on a forum. To each their own.
the people that whine are the ones the cant afford it so they nit-pick it to make them selves feel better
IMO i love the hood window i hate having to open my hood to show people what my motor looks like.
Respectfully, I can afford the car, but don't like the forced hoood design, i.e. a Eaton Supercharger cannot fit under the existing roof. Compared to the Ferrari's "window", it is an after thought showing nothing but plastic and metal, probably looking to most like viewing an engine cover not unlike a BMW or similar (closed) motor. Best
Posers are really hatin' on it. Sure they can put the ZR-1 emblems, but what about the hood? Paint a picture on it? That hood just messed everything up.
Hood window is a good idea in my view. However, it would have been nice to acually see the SC rather than a fabricated top piece. They (chevrolet) could have put some real eye candy under there but, sadly didn't.
So, would I buy one of these cars, yep, in a New York minute just, would have preferred it's appearance was upto its price.
Only the center is the intercooler, with plastic all around it, still looks cheap, they could have done something beter, I'm sure the aftermarket will.

You can always remove the plastic cowling and expose the intercooler pipes and fuel rails underneath. Nothing to stop you there.
You can always remove the plastic covers and let the engie show trough thee window.
I kinda liked the idea of the window... but somehow its too small, so its not like you can actually see the engine like in a Ferrari, but also I think its a good idea for a "shaker" wich actually you dont have a shaker but you can see the engine SHaking under the engine.
PLUS... its the first time somebody comes with something like that on a Front engined car, so Props to Chevrolet for comming with new ideas
Like I said before I love the hood window. But its just sux for the owner who has to keep glass cleaner and towels in the car to clean the drool off of it.
