I hope this is Kosher to share.
I went to the Bowling green plant today hoping that they were building some Z06's. I come to find out that this plant runs all models at any time. What a logistical nightmare it must be to organize!
Any how, I was watching the body panels being attached and saw a charcoal colored C-6.
At closer look, it was a ZR-1!
After attempting to ask the guide if indeed it was, he replied that they were not to discuss the ZR-1 at all....then smiled.
At final inspection, they had hid a blue ZR-1 from direct sight, but I was able to make out the hood, wheels and front fender.
I thought that they were not going into production until May. I chatted up a guy outside after his shift and he said that they had run the first 7 cars this week to test, blow up and crash. 1 grey, 1 blue, 3 yellow, and 2 red.
I realize that they have been at shows and there are pics everywhere, but I believe that these may be the first 7 to be built on the line, for real production testing.
It was a real buzz to see a ZR-1 on the line, in real production, just feet away.
Production has not started. What you saw were pre-production pilot cars for testing. Some will be driven by GM staffers on the streets and highways of America to collect real-world info on how well the design works on the street. The day is coming soon that folks will start reporting ZR1 sightings on the public roads.

Watch my back then......I am too young to die!
No...I did not see Emilo....But wish I had.
Come to think of it, I did not see any 427 limited edition red cars either!
I actually wanted to take pics...but that would have sealed my fate!!!!
I took museum delivery two weeks ago and did a plant tour and they were scheduled to start building 1 ZR per week the Monday after we left. I did see where they had staged parts and were ready to go, like the carbon fiber roof, etc.
