Default ZR1 for Canada

Does anyone have any info on the bumper tests for impact. Do they qualify for Canadian Standards which I think is 8mph?
Thanks
Grant

They don't qualify. So we're keeping them all here in the states.

Just jokin with ya.

No c6's are eligible for entry into canada regardless of changes, c5's are if you change the bumper to the 5mph bumper.

That' not entirley true you can import C'6 but only 2005-2007 Corvettes if you change the bumper foam, get daylight running lights etc... Gm told transport Canada that the 2008 corvettes are not longer able to be converted to comply with Canadain saftey standards plus I think they slightly changed the anti theft device so it does not comply with Canadian standards. Canadian are getting the short end of the stick in my opinion, but if you really want a new Vette you can still probbably buy one from a Canadian GM dealership it'll just cost more, even thought the dollar was on Par last time I checked.

I stand corrected, I checked out riv.ca and found the following reason the 2008 corvettes are inadmissible " 2008 corvette models Coupe, Convertible and Z06. The vehicle cannot be modified to meet CMVSS 212 (bumpers).

2003-2007 corvettes built before September 1st can be imported after bumper modifications.

Canadian dealerships, at least where I live, never ask for market adjustments because we pay more for MSRP. My dealer told me that the msrp in Canada for the Zr1 was expected to be ~$135,000 cdn which is what my guess would be what some dealers will ask in the U.S. after gouging.

Has anyone even seen a 2008 Corvette for sale in Canada?

I know you can't import them from the states, but I have noticed no Gm dealerships in my area sell 2008 Corvette's, only 2007 or prior, anyone know what the score on this is.

No it does not come together nicely. In one sentence it says no 08 Corvettes are allowed in Canada. The other sentence says that the ZR1 will be allowed in Canada and a projected msrp. I think he is asking if Chevy dealers are even allowed to sell brand new 08's in Canada or have ALL new 08 Vettes been banned.

You can buy a 2008 Corvette in Canada, it is not possible to IMPORT a 2008 Corvette privately into Canada due to bumper regulations(this may change shortly). With the 2007 model year you could import from the US privately but needed to modify the bumpers. So dealer new yes, import privately no for the 2008 model year. Check out www.riv.ca for further info

ZR1's coming to Canada, as with ZR1's elsewhere, are under strict allocation controls, and those dealers who actually will receive them already know who they are...and, just as important, who they're NOT...
ALL orders are now "verified". The numbers are very few...not anywhere near 1 per dealer...about 100, total, by estimates...
So, when shopping, make sure you're speaking to people who are actually gonna get one. Leaving deposits and getting into protracted negotiations with the "great unwashed" will be a waste of time...and monie$...
Figure on MSRP...and thank your lucky stars you're getting one. Ours is "confirmed"...and not for sale at any price...the Boss wants to keep it for awhile, and who can blame him!? When it IS "available", it's spoken for.
One less in the marketplace...

Lots of 08's in Edmonton. Don Wheaton and Nicolson have new mulitple coupes and verts. By the way RIV updated their list and now show all 2009 models INADMISSIBLE and specifically mention the ZR1. (these 09's are the USA versions). We WILL be getting 09's that are CANADIAN specific versions for purchase at our dealerships.

Frank

ps-if you're looking for a great deal on a BRAND new LOADED 07 MN6 coupe with extended warranty, I know someone selling. PM me if interested.

I live in Canada as well. I have been looking for a Vette for years and now want to import an ~07 Z06 from the US. The money I will save is ~15-20k which is infuriating to say the least. Maybe dealers here should actually have to provide service and value for money rather than having the gov't protect them thru import restrictions. Heaven forbid!!

The prices are high here for all vehicles. People do not *have* to pay these prices....simply do not buy until prices are adjusted.
