Default No ZR1 for Me

Just found out from my dealer in Vancouver that apparently Canada is only getting 10 ZR1's of the 2000 being built. My dealer has one allocation. but I missed out on that.
But not all is lost I am 1st in line for a 2009 CTS-V. Gave him a $ 1000
deposit to-day. Possibly ordering info will be available in June.

Missing out on a ZR1 might not have necessarily been a bad thing.

I'd take an '09 CTS-V to go along with my Z06 any day.

I was told 200 for Canada. My dealer will get 2. One is gone, and
I'll pass on the second. Don't think it's worth $135,000! (at least
that's the Cdn. estimate!)

Wrong info on that. Canada is getting 210 according to Oshawa. But the price in Canada is estimated already at $132,000 grand!!!!! You can do alot more with a Z06 and the extra cash.

Yep - 10% allocation to Canada to existing Vette delearships based
on past sales. The price is in line with what I was told.

With the difference one can add turbo or superchargers and many other mods an a Z. Chevy is asking TOO MUCH for the ZR1 that I think will hurt them in the long run.

Nothing factual has been posted yet on the price, but you can be assured that Chevy will sell everyone of the 2000 produced the 1st year, no matter the price.

I think one of the good things about the price of the ZR1 is that our Z06s will not go down in value as quickly...IMO.

Could be just the opposite. If a large number of current Z06 owners start dumping their Z06's in order to purchase a ZR1, the used Z06 market could be flooded, driving prices south. Also, if the number of buyers for 2009 Z06's are reduced because of the ZR1 being top dog, then it's possible for the new Z06's to heavy discounted, again driving the price of used Z06's south.

I don't think there will be "large numbers" of current Z06 owners dumping their cars to buy ZR1's thereby flooding the market with Z06's. This is what one AZ dealer just told me about ZR1 pricing:
Quote:
Honestly, we're expecting the first one to bring upwards of $300,000 although that remains to be seen. We're only getting four (and that's the most of anyone in the state) so we've decided that the least we'll let them go for is $199,995 (we're expecting sticker to be around $125,000). That's a lot of dough, eh?!
From an email I just received this morning.

$200K-$300K puts this car in a different league altogether. Especially when a C6Z06 could be modded to equal or better performance in a lighter, better balanced package. Plus not everyone is a fan of forced induction.

The ZR1 can't be considered a threat until production sufficient production numbers are realized to bring the price back into reality.

I am a MSRP man! I will have to wait for that to happen, and it will! It happened with the Z06, some lucky people with the 2006 model. But plenty with the 2007 model( which I bought @ Msrp after getting SCREWED big time from Monica and Maxie Price waiting for my 2006)
So in 2010 Maybe

Here is a switch, Americans may be buying the Canadian allocations of ZR-1s as Canadian dealers are not permitted to sell for over MSRP.

Could be a bargain north of the border for a change.

So how is your place on the supervette list with Maxie? j/k. Any time I read Maxie and/or Monica I have to post and keep the memory fresh.

I'm not sure but doesn't Canada have a form of VAT or Province tax that is included in the price? The $135K CN may be a good price.

You miss the point of the ZR1. If you want a ZR1 then adding turbos or a blower will never make a ZO6 anything but a ZO6.
