THANKS!
See the "forged" pistons listed, versus the earlier "rumored" cast! Hope they are reporting directly from the specs that GM gave them in the media press kit and not an assumption on the part of the editor!

How can the new Z06 only run to 60 in 3.8 seconds and the F430 runs 3.5 with less horsepower and more weight? I just don't get it!

Um......those are estimated, projected figures, maybe based on a test mule. Just wait until they hit the dynos and tracks in the real world or the car rags get the test pool cars that GM will put out for them to drive the sh*t out of. THEN we will know the real scoop!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that will mean a gax guzzler tax, if the estimate is correct.

The base C6 is about 18/28 or so and it barely avoids the guzzler tax......

Maybe it'll have a 1-6 skip shift...

I don't know if it has anything to do with gearing, because the MT article indicated that it would reach 60mph in first gear, significantly reducing the 0-60, as it requires no shift.
It doesn't matter anyway, anything 4 or less is severely dependant on traction. Floor an Enzo and a Z06 side by side from a dead stop on a normal street and the 4wd truck next to em will hit 40 first.

Burning Brakes
had to edit: used the old formula
Combined Fuel Economy (EPA equation):
FEcomb = (1/(.495/city MPG + .351/highway MPG))+.15
FEcomb= (1/(.495/16 + .351/22))+.15 = 21.48 MPG
That would be a $1000 or maybe $1300 Gax Guzzler Tax
according to the EPA fact sheet.
at least 22.5 No tax
at least 21.5, but less than 22.5 $1000
at least 20.5, but less than 21.5 $1300
at least 19.5, but less than 20.5 $1700
at least 18.5, but less than 19.5 $2100
at least 17.5, but less than 18.5 $2600
at least 16.5, but less than 17.5 $3000
at least 15.5, but less than 16.5 $3700
at least 14.5, but less than 15.5 $4500
at least 13.5, but less than 14.5 $5400
at least 12.5, but less than 13.5 $6400
less than 12.5 $7700

Wonder why a 335 HP 911 can cut the same 0-60 as a 400 HP C6, both weighing about the same?
Get it?

The 0-100 mph time in 7.7 sec is outstanding quickness that will smoke a Porsche GT2 and the Murcielago......
Those cars times are in the high 8's.......

Duke beat me to it... mid-engine will have an advantage due to weight distribution.
Gearing/redline is also be a factor. I don't know about the Ferrari but the Lambo reaches redline in first above 60 mph so the 0-60 jaunt requires NO shifts.
Obviously we don't know about the new Z but one shift means a few tenths.
As a result, 0-60 times are now becoming rediculous points of comparison...
